The University of San Francisco seeks a highly-motivated, energetic and team-orientated individual to fill the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Content at one of the nation’s leading Jesuit institutions. This is a full-time, 12-month position with full University benefits. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in all publicity aspects surrounding USF’s 15-sport Division I intercollegiate athletic program, with emphasis on sports determined by the Associate Athletic Director, Communications.Full Job Description:
Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Manage and assist in communications efforts for various teams, including women’s basketball, and other sports determined by the Associate Athletic Director, Communications.
· Write game previews and recaps, update student-athlete and coach bios and write general news releases on department’s official website – USFDons.com.
· Maintain statistics, records and photo archives for assigned sports.
· Responsible for live and postgame statistics for all assigned sports. Must also be available to fill in as official statistician at home events as necessary.
· Work closely with head coaches in researching proper promotions of teams and student-athletes for department website usfdons.com and social media platforms.
· Write feature stories and assist in production of social media graphics and video content across various platforms.
· Maintain various statistical and historical research projects as assigned, including team record books.
· Facilitate various requests from coaching staffs, the West Coast Conference and NCAA.
· Collaborate with the Associate Athletic Director, Communications and colleagues in the university’s Office of Marketing Communications to share information, develop stories and amplify the achievements of USF student-athletes and our Division I athletics program.
· Create and maintain working relationships with local and national media outlets, proactively promoting coaches and student-athletes, and facilitating requests from media.
· Properly archive game action photos and work with marketing team and conference office for photo requests and other materials as needed.
· Promote student-athletes for various national and conference awards.
· Assist the Associate Athletic Director, Communications in planning and organizing all phases of communications team.
· Assist with gameday staffing for assigned sports.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Understanding and appreciation of the mission, vision, and values of the University of San Francisco.
· Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred, with emphasis on journalism, public relations, communications or related field a plus.
· 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in administration support work or related education including at least two years in an administrative support role. Preferred, experience in a sports information/communications athletic department.
· Proficiency with Stat Crew, NCAA Live Stats (Genius), Stat Input (Stat Broadcast).
· Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop).
· Ideal candidate is a versatile, creative storyteller with the ability to tell narratives through print, graphics and video creative content across all platforms.
· Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
· Experience in feature writing, game coverage, copy editing and proofreading.
· Well-versed in social media strategies and trends including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok
· Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations across all USF sponsored sports
· The position requires some travel and working evenings, weekends and select holidays in addition to daily office hours. Also requires other related duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or other department leadership.
