Position Summary:

The Director, Scientific Communications - Medical Content, Sparsentan, leads medical content strategy and delivery for sparsentan within Global Medical Affairs. The Director ensures deliverables are scientifically accurate, compliant, and aligned with medical objectives, and partners across Global Medical and with other internal and external stakeholders to translate evolving evidence into cohesive, timely, and impactful communications.

Responsibilities:

Medical Content Strategy and Deliverables

  • Lead development of the scientific narrative and story arc
  • Collaborate with Publication and the Congress & Medical Education team members to create a holistic communication plan with clear content priorities, audiences, milestones, and responsibilities
  • Develop the strategic medical content plan and oversee development of new medical content aligned with overall Medical Affairs objectives
  • Develop communication campaigns for key focus areas
  • Lead Medical Content team and meetings
  • Partner with Medical Evidence Generation Lead and Publication Lead for development of strategic content
  • Partner with Digital Engagement & Innovation team on innovative digital content
  • Oversee vendors and review content for strategic alignment
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and provide functional expertise for content development processes, best practices, medical-legal review, and external guidelines related to medical content
  • Additional duties assigned as need

Additional Leadership Responsibilities

  • Make timely recommendations and decisions, balancing priorities and trade-offs
  • Identify risks early and propose mitigation strategies, escalating when needed
  • Build cross-functional alignment through clear communication, partnership, and follow-through
  • Adapt plans and content as evidence and priorities evolve while maintaining scientific integrity and alignment with product strategy

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • PharmD or PhD in a related life sciences discipline. An equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
  • 10+ years of experience across scientific communications and medical affairs in life sciences, with demonstrated leadership of cross-functional programs spanning multiple deliverables and timelines required
  • Experience developing and managing a long-term story arc and medical content strategy and plan aligned to product strategy and medical objectives required

Additional Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will embody Travere’s core values: Courage, Community Spirit, Patient Focus and Teamwork
  • Experience directing or reviewing content development
  • Experience in nephrology and/or rare diseases preferred
  • Broad knowledge of the drug development process, with a focus on integrated planning across early- and late-stage portfolios
  • CMPP certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs; familiarity with Veeva and PubStrat Max is a plus
  • Professional experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, preferably small molecule pharmaceuticals
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a complex environment while managing multiple concurrent initiatives with attention to detail and delivery discipline
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions
  • Executive presence to engage senior leadership across the business and represent the Scientific Communications function with credibility and authority
  • Ability to travel 15% to 25% domestically and internationally for congresses and to work face-to-face with colleagues, including onsite presence in San Diego
