Overseas Exepectations:

1. Work Hours Must Align with U.S. Eastern Time (EST)

  1. Core working hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.

  1. Overseas workers must adjust their schedule to be fully available and online during these hours.

  1. Occasional flexibility may be allowed, but EST coverage is non-negotiable.

2. Responsiveness and Communication

  1. Must be responsive to both internal team as well as clients via email, Teams, or other tools within a reasonable time frame (e.g., within 15–30 minutes during work hours).

  1. Acknowledge requests and provide an expectation for a response if the timeframe to provide an answer is not possible within 30 minutes.

  1. Attend daily stand-ups, scheduled meetings, and impromptu calls as needed.

  1. Camera should be on and workspace properly lit.

  1. Proactive communication is expected—provide updates without being asked.

3. Accountability and Ownership

  1. Overseas workers are equal team members and are expected to own their tasks with the same level of responsibility as U.S.-based colleagues.

  1. If a task cannot be completed or the next step is unclear, it is essential to raise it to the team immediately so that someone can take ownership and ensure continuity.

  1. Leaving tasks unresolved without follow-up is unacceptable. For example, if you create an invoice but are unsure who is responsible for sending it, you must flag it clearly—do not leave it unfinished or unassigned.

  1. Every team member should think through the entire workflow (e.g., end-to-end accounting processes) and ensure that all steps are completed or clearly transitioned.

4. Professionalism and Reliability

  1. Show up on time to meetings, deliver consistent work, and maintain a professional attitude.

  1. A stable internet connection and a quiet working environment are essential.

5. Time Zone Awareness and Coordination

  1. Understand that the team operates on EST, and plan ahead for things like time changes (Daylight Saving Time, for example).

  1. Avoid frequent unavailability during EST hours due to personal or local matters.

6. Collaboration and Visibility

  1. Engage in team discussions, contribute ideas, and stay visible even while remote.

  1. Use shared tools (e.g., project trackers, time logs, status updates) to show progress.

  1. If applicable, send daily status updates as we continue to work on backlog.
