From the employer
Are you ready to become a part of DNV’s Alternative Fuels Insight team where you will drive growth by translating maritime energy-market dynamics into differentiated service opportunities, building the insight and business cases that guide product development, and progressing validated opportunities towards initial revenue and commercial scale?
The opportunity
We are looking for a commercially minded professional who can translate developments in maritime energy markets into data-driven services and growth opportunities. This role will help customers navigate rapidly changing fuels and energy landscape.
You will work at the intersection of market insight, domain expertise, data and digital product development. You will identify emerging needs, develop the supporting market insight and business cases, and define the data models, forecasting approaches and analytical logic required to turn data into customer value. You will remain closely involved as the commercial and market counterpart, owning the progression of validated opportunities towards market activation and initial revenue, while technology-platform development, product design and delivery remain with the dedicated product team and customer conversion and contracting are undertaken with customer-facing teams.
What you will do
- Monitor and interpret maritime energy-dynamics, customer economics and emerging value chains across industries to guide added value priorities.
- Work the sales funnel from market interest to closing within energy markets meeting agreed growth targets.
- Develop the market insight, customer evidence and business cases required to prioritise and initiate product development.
- Define opportunity briefs, data models, forecasting approaches and analytical requirements within initial focus areas such as forecasting, fuel-price insights and feedstock enablement.
- Validate propositions with customers and ecosystem partners, refining the value case and route to market.
- Build the customer, partner and internal engagement needed to create demand and establish new market opportunities.
- Act as the energy market insight, data and commercial counterpart to the dedicated product development team, providing business validation for direction and growth.
This is a market-led, data-driven growth role positioned upstream of product development. The role is accountable for translating market insight into well-founded opportunities and business cases, defining the required data models, forecasting approaches and analytical logic, securing customer and partner validation, and progressing validated opportunities towards market activation and initial revenue in collaboration with customer-facing teams. It provides the dedicated product development team with clear direction on where new services can create distinctive value and commercial growth, but does not develop on the technology platform or own end-to-end product design, technical development, delivery, customer conversion or contracting.
- Shape services that support better decisions in the maritime energy transition.
- Combine market development with data, technology and deep domain expertise.
- Collaborate with a broad network of specialists, customers, partners and customer-facing teams.
- Shape the direction of emerging services and create new avenues for commercial growth.
- Flexible working arrangements supporting a healthy work-life balance and Høvik campus facilities
- Competitive benefits aligned with Norwegian market practices, including pension, insurance, annual vacation, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- You have strong understanding of energy markets, alternative fuels and the commercial dynamics of the energy transition.
- You are commercially oriented with the ability to translate opportunities into value for the clients.
- You have experience from data-driven modelling within energy, fuels, maritime, commodities or other relevant industry.
- You are able to translate regulatory complexity, market developments and customer challenges into commercially viable service opportunities.
- You have experience with establishing data models and forecasting models, define analytical approaches, and translate data into actionable insight and differentiated customer value.
- You are a strong communicator and thrive with managing stakeholders using your relationship-building skills.
- You have a proactive, collaborative and opportunity-oriented mindset, with the judgement to prioritise where the organisation can create distinctive value.
- Experience from hard-to-abate sectors beyond maritime, such as aviation, chemicals or heavy industry, is considered an advantage, particularly where this provides insight into fuel demand, feedstock competition and emerging offtake markets.
