The Role

Avenue Z is seeking a proactive, organized Business Development Representative, ecommerce, to support new-business growth. This role is focused on researching prospective ecommerce accounts, conducting thoughtful outbound outreach, qualifying initial interest, and setting high-quality meetings for the team.

The ideal candidate is an engaging communicator who enjoys starting conversations, following up with discipline, and creating a strong first impression. You’ll help build a consistent pipeline of conversations with ecommerce brands and keep prospect activity organized from first touch through meeting handoff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research ecommerce brands, prospective clients, and relevant decision-makers to build focused outreach lists.
  • Conduct consistent outbound prospecting through email, phone, LinkedIn, and other appropriate channels using personalized, relevant messaging.
  • Generate interest and qualify prospects based on fit, business priorities, and the team’s agreed qualification criteria.
  • Schedule qualified introductory meetings for David Conforti and members of the ecommerce team; confirm attendance and help reduce no-shows through timely follow-up.
  • Prepare concise prospect notes and context for each meeting, including relevant company information, outreach history, and stated needs or interests.
  • Maintain accurate prospect records, outreach history, next steps, and meeting outcomes in HubSpot or the team’s designated CRM.
  • Follow up with prospects consistently and nurture conversations that are not yet ready for a meeting.
  • Collaborate with the ecommerce team to refine target-account lists, messaging, qualification criteria, and outreach workflows based on results.
  • Track activity and funnel performance, share regular updates, and use learnings to improve outreach effectiveness.
  • Represent Avenue Z professionally in all interactions with prospective clients and industry contacts.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in business development, sales development, lead generation, or a customer-facing role; experience in ecommerce, digital media, marketing, or technology is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, personalized outreach and engage prospects confidently.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and initiating conversations with new contacts.
  • Highly organized and dependable, with strong follow-through across a high volume of prospects and competing priorities.
  • Able to research companies and identify relevant stakeholders and potential business needs.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and sales engagement tools; HubSpot experience is preferred.
  • Curious, coachable, resilient, and motivated by measurable goals and team success.
  • Able to work collaboratively with senior sales leaders and represent the company with professionalism.
