Who this fits

This mid-level territory role suits someone who can combine technical selling with account ownership and customer-facing presentations. Expect regional travel, regular customer-site visits and work around plant equipment, stairs and ladders; the role also requires the ability to lift up to fifty pounds.

From the employer

Flowserve is seeking an accomplished Sales Engineer to lead commercial growth, customer relationship development, and solution-based selling across rotating equipment portfolios. In this role, you will serve as the primary commercial and technical partner to key industrial customers and trade organizations—solidifying customer alliances, securing high-value purchase agreements, and expanding Flowserve’s footprint across industrial process markets.

Operating as a strategic territory manager, you will champion customer satisfaction and revenue growth by coordinating closely with application engineering, manufacturing operations, Quick Response Centers (QRCs), and third-party channel partners. Whether presenting complex pump packages, structuring return-on-investment (ROI) solutions, or resolving operational challenges, your technical acumen and relationship-building will deliver measurable reliability and value to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and exceed assigned bookings, revenue, and margin targets across direct accounts and regional channel partners within the designated territory.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for key customers across all commercial stages, including technical scoping, proposals, order delivery, equipment repairs, quality assurance, and warranty resolution.
  • Build and execute targeted account plans and sales strategies aligned with regional business objectives and emerging market trends.
  • Educate plant managers, reliability engineers, and procurement teams on the performance, reliability, and lifecycle advantages of Flowserve pumps, mechanical seals, and auxiliary systems.
  • Partner cross-functionally with application engineers, field service teams, and plant operations to ensure fast proposal turnarounds and seamless order execution.
  • Lead technical product presentations, executive pitches, and solution-selling discussions highlighting return on investment (ROI) and total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions.
  • Maintain CRM integrity, opportunity pipelines, quotation activity, and expense tracking with rigorous organization.
  • Conduct regular on-site customer visits and walk customer facilities, including navigating multi-story plant units, ladders, and operating areas.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field—OR equivalent practical industry technical sales experience.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of technical sales, commercial account management, or application engineering experience in industrial equipment markets.
  • Solid working knowledge of the design, operation, and reliability requirements of industrial centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, and fluid motion systems.
  • Proven financial and commercial acumen, with demonstrated capability to lead consultative, ROI-driven solution sales.
  • Proficiency in modern digital tools and standard software suites (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and enterprise CRM systems).
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with executive-level presence.
  • Physical ability to navigate industrial plant environments, walk expansive customer facilities, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed during site evaluations.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to manage regional territory travel.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct technical sales experience handling rotating equipment, specifically industrial pumps (API 610 / ANSI) and engineered mechanical seals (API 682).
  • Industry background selling into Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Chemical Processing, or Pulp & Paper facilities.
  • Formal training in strategic sales methodologies, value-based negotiation, and consultative selling.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, managing root cause failure analyses (RCFA), and coordinating technical post-mortem reviews with plant operations.
  • Working knowledge of project management frameworks and long-cycle capital pursuit processes.
