Through technical expertise, close customer partnerships, and pioneering solutions, we support some of the world’s largest and most exciting projects while helping reduce industrial climate impact.

About the role

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will drive profitable growth by selling Kanthal technical products, services, installations, and engineered solutions to assigned customers and market segments. You will serve as a primary technical interface between customers and Kanthal’s sales, engineering, manufacturing, product management, and technical marketing teams. By understanding customer processes, specifications, performance requirements, and business challenges, you will translate needs into practical technical and commercial solutions while developing new business and expanding existing customer relationships.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage and grow assigned customer accounts, applications, market segments, and territory in line with established business plans and objectives.
  • Sell technical products, services, installations, configurations, and engineered solutions based on customer requirements and Kanthal capabilities.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer engineering, operations, procurement, maintenance, quality, and management representatives.
  • Evaluate customer specifications, drawings, operating conditions, process requirements, and performance expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, proposals, quotations, recommendations, and customer training.
  • Identify and develop new customers, applications, projects, and market opportunities that support profitable growth.
  • Coordinate feasibility reviews, product trials, samples, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation activities with internal technical resources.
  • Create territory sales plans and maintain accurate forecasts, opportunity updates, account plans, pipeline reports, and business-system records.
  • Gather and communicate customer, competitor, application, and market intelligence to internal stakeholders.
  • Support product launches, trade shows, conferences, seminars, customer events, and other market-development activities.
  • Promote Kanthal’s Safety First culture, apply the Never Walk By principle, protect confidential information, and follow the Kanthal Code of Conduct.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical sales, customer applications, engineered products, manufacturing processes, or solution-based selling.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings, operating requirements, and technical documentation.
  • Strong customer orientation, commercial judgment, communication, presentation, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer priorities, projects, quotations, and deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management systems, Microsoft Office applications, virtual collaboration tools, and data analysis.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory, with occasional travel outside the territory as business needs require.

Preferred experience

Experience with electrical heating, advanced materials, thermal processing, engineered products, technical quotations, customer-specific solutions, new-product introduction, or design for manufacturability is preferred. An advanced technical degree, graduate-level business education, Professional Engineer certification, technical sales credential, or other applicable industry certification is an advantage but is not required.
