Who this fits
You will suit this role if you can act as a proactive extension of clients' teams, challenge them constructively and focus activity on commercial impact. The work is remote in South Africa for a UK client and requires genuine ownership, autonomy and hands-on delivery. Experience with mass-participation events, ticketing, endurance sports or consumer events would help but is not required.
From the employer
Our client in the UK is looking for a Senior Client Growth & Marketing Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of key event partners and help them grow. This is not a traditional account management role. They need someone who can combine senior client ownership, commercial thinking, growth marketing and hands-on delivery.
The right person will become a genuine extension of our clients' teams: understand their business, identify the biggest opportunities, build a clear growth plan and make sure it gets delivered. They should also be comfortable getting hands-on when needed - writing an email campaign, developing messaging, creating content or shaping a promotion rather than always relying on another team member to execute.
Key responsibilities
- Own senior relationships with a portfolio of clients.
- Develop and deliver growth strategies designed to increase registrations and event revenue.
- Analyse event performance and identify the biggest commercial opportunities.
- Plan campaigns across email, CRM, social, content, pricing, referrals, partnerships and participant reactivation.
- Produce marketing content and copy directly when required.
- Develop campaign concepts, messaging and promotional ideas.
- Brief and work with creative, product and technology teams to deliver client initiatives.
- Lead new clients through onboarding and establish clear plans, responsibilities and expectations.
- Track registrations, revenue and year-on-year growth, adapting plans where performance is behind target.
- Prioritise activity based on commercial impact rather than simply responding to client requests.
- Challenge clients constructively when there is a better approach.
- Act as the central point between the client and the wider team.
Requirements
- Someone with a combination of client leadership, marketing ability and commercial judgement.
- Experience in an agency, growth marketing, events, consumer marketing or similar environment and should be comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
- An experienced client or account lead, comfortable with senior stakeholders.
- Commercially minded and confident working with revenue and performance data.
- A strong marketer with a good understanding of what drives consumer behaviour and conversion.
- An excellent writer capable of producing compelling email, social and web copy.
- Creatively minded with strong judgement around campaigns, messaging and content.
- Highly proactive and able to identify opportunities without waiting for direction.
- Comfortable challenging clients and holding them accountable.
- Highly organised and capable of managing several complex accounts.
- Able to operate autonomously and take genuine ownership of results.
- Experience in mass-participation events, ticketing, endurance sports or consumer events would be advantageous but is not essential.
What success looks like
This person won't simply be measured on client satisfaction. They will be responsible for helping their events grow registrations, increase revenue and perform better year on year.
Someone who thinks like an owner: if an event is behind target, they want to understand why and do something about it; if there is an opportunity to grow it, they pursue it; and when something needs delivering, they are prepared to get involved and make it happen.
