From the employer

Basic Science / Nonclinical Physician Content Specialist

Your next patient: the future of medicine

Remember the first time the Krebs cycle actually made sense? Or when a pathophysiology concept finally clicked and suddenly a dozen clinical findings fell into place? At UWorld, we create those moments for hundreds of thousands of medical learners around the world.

We're looking for a Basic Science / Nonclinical Physician Content Specialist who loves the science behind medicine as much as the practice of it. You'll create and refine high-quality content for our widely trusted web-based products, including our USMLE®, Internal Medicine (ABIM®), and Family Medicine (ABFM) Question Banks.

You'll join a talented team of physicians, editors, and medical illustrators who share a simple goal: making complex medicine clear, memorable, and genuinely useful. Along the way, you'll sharpen your own expertise, grow your skills, and enjoy something many physicians only hear about: real work-life balance.

What you'll do

  • Write questions that teach. Develop engaging, high-yield content for our USMLE®, ABIM®, ABFM, and other Question Banks, with a focus on basic science topics and clinical vignettes that help learners connect mechanisms to patients.
  • Make great content even better. Review and strengthen colleagues' work, offering thoughtful feedback in a collaborative, supportive environment.
  • Bring science to life visually. Partner with our medical illustration team to create striking visuals that make tough concepts easier to understand and harder to forget.
  • Collaborate across disciplines. Work with team members across UWorld to streamline content development, enhance the learner experience, and respond to learner feedback.
  • Keep many plates spinning. Manage multiple projects with ease while helping to keep our team culture positive and energized.
  • Pitch in where it counts. Take on additional projects that support UWorld's mission of excellence in medical education.

What you bring

  • MD or DO degree with a strong foundation in the basic sciences
  • High scores on USMLE® Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3
  • Exceptional communication skills and a genuine passion for educational innovation
  • A love of writing and experience creating educational materials, particularly in nonclinical or academic settings
  • A meticulous eye for accuracy and detail, because in medicine and medical education, the details matter

Why you'll love working at UWorld

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Generous paid time off, including parental and bereavement leave, plus a full week off during the winter holiday season
  • 8 hours of paid volunteer time each year to give back to causes you care about
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, and even pet insurance for your four-legged family members
  • 401(k) with a 5% employer match, available after 90 days of employment
  • Professional growth opportunities, including annual learning and development programs
  • Onsite fitness classes and wellness initiatives that help you practice what medicine preaches
  • A company-wide Social Committee that knows how to have fun, with inclusive events like Field Day, our Halloween Costume Party, and the Annual Company Gala
