Job Summary:
As a Product Marketing Manager II, you will own the full product marketing strategy and execution for your assigned product pillars — operating with greater independence, deeper cross-functional influence, and a sharper commercial lens than the PMM I level. You will set the standard for how PetSafe brings products to market within your scope, serve as the senior day-to-day partner to Brand, MS&P, and Product Management, and help shape the broader product marketing function under the eventual direction of the Product Marketing Lead (to be hired). This role reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and suits a marketer with 4–7 years of experience who is ready to lead without always being told what to do.
Key Responsibilities
Consumer Understanding & Insight Leadership
Own and evolve customer segmentation and buyer journey frameworks for assigned pillars — not just maintain them, but proactively identify when they need to be refreshed based on market shifts or product changes
Lead competitive intelligence at the positioning and messaging level; synthesize findings into strategic recommendations, not just observations
Bring consumer and market insight into cross-functional conversations proactively — Brand campaign briefs, MS&P planning sessions, Product roadmap reviews — without waiting to be asked
Identify gaps in the consumer understanding that affect go-to-market decisions and work with the Insights team to address them
Product Positioning & Naming
Own positioning and value proposition architecture for assigned pillars; ensure consistency across product lines and coherence with the broader brand platform
Lead naming strategy and process end-to-end; manage Brand and legal review process efficiently
Lead packaging development for assigned pillars — drive the claims, hierarchy, and creative direction process with Brand and ensure on-time delivery to production milestones
Pressure-test positioning against competitive landscape and consumer insights; flag risks before they reach market
Collateral, Launch & Portfolio Management
Own the full collateral development and launch readiness process for assigned pillars — from brief through delivery
Manage above-baseline collateral scoping with MS&P at the brief stage; hold the line on scope changes mid-production
Lead evergreen product prioritization for assigned pillars in partnership with MS&P and Product Management; communicate prioritization clearly to Brand
Proactively flag portfolio health issues that affect marketing priorities — SKU rationalization, lifecycle stage changes, velocity concerns
Cross-Functional Leadership
Own the strategic brief for all launches within assigned pillars; facilitate alignment across MS&P, Brand, and Product Management before creative work begins
Serve as the senior product marketing voice in cross-functional planning sessions — GTM planning, launch reviews, annual marketing calendar
Mentor and support PMM I colleagues; share frameworks, review briefs, and help raise the quality of work across the team
Identify process improvements within the product marketing function and bring proposals to the Product Marketing Lead
Track, analyze, and present customer satisfaction, penetration, and positioning performance; translate data into recommendations
Accountabilities
This role will be measured on:
Customer satisfaction and penetration performance across assigned pillars
Launch collateral quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery
Strength and adoption of segmentation and buyer journey frameworks — assessed by how consistently they shape Brand and MS&P decisions
Cross-functional effectiveness — measured by feedback from Brand, MS&P, and Product Management partners
Portfolio prioritization quality and alignment across teams
Contribution to PMM I development and team-wide capability building
