Role: Senior Social Media Manager

Location: New York, United States

About the role:

Built for an experienced social media professional ready to take on something broader, this role combines team oversight with operational leadership — without necessarily moving into brand strategy or creative direction. Roughly half your time is spent ensuring key social deliverables land on time and at the right quality. The rest is split between embedding smarter ways of working across the social function and contributing social expertise to integrated campaigns and wider studio work.

What you will be doing:

Team Oversight and Operations

  • Serve as operational lead for the social media team, tracking progress across key deliverables including Culture Squad outputs, creator briefs, reporting cycles, and channel management
  • Partner daily with the Account Manager and Project Manager as part of the Mission Control team, flagging risks, clearing blockers, and keeping the team on track
  • Monitor workload and output quality across the team, realigning priorities when needed and escalating to Mission Control partners where appropriate
  • Hold the team accountable to timelines and quality standards, leading through influence rather than formal authority
  • Identify workflow gaps and develop practical solutions that improve how the team operates day to day
  • Coach and guide social media team members on an ongoing basis

Best Practices and Ways of Working

  • Set and maintain quality standards for social media output across the studio
  • Develop, document, and iterate on team processes, templates, and workflows that improve consistency and efficiency
  • Stay ahead of platform updates, algorithm changes, and emerging social trends, translating them into clear, actionable guidance for the team
  • Act as the primary resource for social media best practice across M Studio

Social Strategy Support

  • Contribute social media expertise to integrated campaign work and wider studio projects, including brand campaigns
  • Support briefing, channel planning, and content approach for campaign work alongside the broader team
  • Advise on platform suitability, audience engagement, and content strategy as needed

What you need to be great in this role:

  • A strong background in social media management, built across multiple brands or complex, fast-moving environments
  • Proven ability to lead, guide, and influence a team without formal line management authority, bringing people along through clarity, credibility, and consistency
  • Sharp operational instincts: you identify gaps before they become problems and bring structure to complex, multi-workstream environments
  • Expert-level knowledge of Instagram and TikTok, with strong working knowledge of YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, and other major social platforms
  • Experience contributing to social strategy within integrated campaigns and brand work
  • Confidence working in matrixed environments alongside account, project management, and creative teams
  • Experience with social reporting and listening, including interpreting performance data and communicating insights clearly to stakeholders; familiarity with tools such as Dash Social and Talkwalker is a plus
  • Comfort using project management and content planning tools such as Airtable
  • Familiarity with creator and influencer brief development
  • Experience operating across multiple brands in a complex, fast-moving environment
  • Advanced use of Gen AI tools relevant to social media to enhance output quality and team efficiency
  • Experience designing AI-assisted workflows for yourself and the wider team
  • Ability to train team members on effective, responsible AI tool usage
  • Agentic approach to complex, multi-step challenges with a clear bias for action
  • Strong understanding of AI capabilities and limitations, with rigorous human oversight applied throughout
