From the employer

Join NKPR

NKPR is a Toronto-based communications agency specializing in public relations, marketing, digital strategy and talent representation. Founded by Natasha Koifman in 2002, we partner with leading brands across real estate, hospitality, lifestyle, design, technology, fashion and financial services to create communications programs that build awareness, strengthen reputation and drive meaningful business results.

We’re a collaborative, high-energy agency where great work comes from strong relationships — with our clients, the media and each other. Our downtown Toronto office is designed to bring people together, from collaborative workspaces and cozy meeting areas to a rooftop patio that becomes a favourite gathering spot in the summer.

The pace is fast, the work is varied and no two weeks look exactly the same. Our team works across media relations, major events, brand launches, strategic campaigns and integrated communications programs, while making time to celebrate the wins along the way.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Public Relations Account Manager who knows how to lead the day-to-day needs of an account while keeping sight of the bigger strategic picture. This is an ideal role for someone with strong agency experience who is confident managing clients, developing communications strategies, leading media relations and guiding junior team members. You should be equally comfortable presenting recommendations to a client, editing a pitch, managing competing deadlines and jumping into execution when the team needs you.

You’ll work closely with Account Directors and senior leadership while taking ownership of a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.

What You'll Do

  • Own day-to-day relationships across assigned client accounts, becoming a trusted and responsive point of contact.
  • Develop and execute strategic PR programs that support clients' communications and business objectives.
  • Lead media relations efforts, including identifying compelling story angles, overseeing pitching and building strong relationships with journalists, producers, editors and other media contacts.
  • Manage integrated campaigns, brand activations, events and other client initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Write and edit high-quality communications materials, including media pitches, press releases, media advisories, client communications and social content.
  • Translate client goals into clear priorities, timelines and deliverables for internal teams.
  • Manage account budgets, workbacks, reporting and competing deadlines across multiple clients.
  • Identify potential challenges early and bring forward thoughtful, solutions-oriented recommendations.
  • Provide direction, coaching and constructive feedback to junior team members while maintaining accountability for the quality of work produced by the account team.
  • Keep senior leaders informed of account performance, client sentiment, priorities, risks and opportunities.
  • Stay current on the media landscape, industry trends and cultural conversations to identify timely opportunities for clients.
  • Remain hands-on and willing to jump into execution when needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 6–7 years of public relations experience, with significant experience working in a PR agency environment.
  • A strong track record of developing and executing successful PR campaigns at the local and national level.
  • Established media relations skills and a strong understanding of the Canadian media landscape.
  • Experience independently managing multiple client relationships and competing account priorities.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear and compelling communications.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to anticipate client needs, identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including experience managing budgets, timelines and deliverables.
  • Confidence communicating with clients, media, colleagues and senior leadership.
  • A collaborative, accountable and proactive approach to agency life.
  • Post-secondary education in public relations, communications, journalism or a related discipline.

What Success Looks Like

You build trusted relationships with your clients and understand their businesses well enough to anticipate what they need. Your accounts are organized, deadlines and budgets are well managed, and the work leaving your team is consistently strong.

You bring ideas forward rather than waiting to be asked, recognize potential challenges early and keep senior leadership appropriately informed. You also help junior team members become stronger communicators and PR practitioners through clear direction, thoughtful feedback and hands-on mentorship.

Most importantly, you contribute to an agency culture where people collaborate, take ownership and support one another in producing exceptional work.
