Work is primarily remote in a hybrid arrangement, with occasional on-campus attendance requested in advance. You’ll need evening and weekend availability for some event coverage.

From the employer

The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. We are seeking a student videographer and photographer to capture requested events, providing visual content that supports promotion, documentation, and storytelling for the department. The successful candidate will report to the department and will play a key role in building a visual archive of events and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate camera, lighting, and audio equipment for event coverage professionally and unobtrusively.

  • Edit and select photos and video footage for use in promotional materials, social media, and digital platforms.

  • Organize and archive raw and edited photo and video files in an accessible, clearly labeled system.

  • Coordinate with department staff in advance of events to confirm coverage needs, shot lists, and delivery timelines.

  • Deliver edited content within agreed-upon turnaround times following each event.

  • Complete other related communications and media tasks as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Matriculated New School student.

  • Federal Work-Study Award letter preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience operating a camera for photography and/or videography.

  • Available a minimum of 10 hours per week, including some evening and weekend availability for event coverage.

  • Experience with photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar).

  • Familiarity with basic lighting and audio setup for event recording.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on-site at events.
