Role brief

growthroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Choose target accounts, research them and turn your territory plan into a pipeline you generate yourself
  • Open relationships with new decision-makers and guide them from first conversation through a signed contract
  • Lead discovery to uncover business problems, then connect proposed work to outcomes such as growth, savings or risk reduction
  • Work with delivery, solution architecture and alliance teams to qualify, shape, propose and close the first project
  • Track bookings against targets and keep your CRM pipeline and forecast current

What you bring

  • A track record of beating targets by winning new customers, with specific wins you can explain
  • Experience creating pipeline from an unworked territory through your own prospecting and relationship-building
  • You have sold complex consulting or professional-services engagements, preferably in data, cloud or AI
  • You can present credibly to senior executives and technical leaders across complex buying groups

Who this fits

This role suits a self-directed, resilient seller who prefers consultative, trust-based work and can build a territory from a blank slate. It is focused entirely on winning new customers, rather than growing an inherited account base.

From the employer

Colibri Digital are looking for three New Business Development Managers to win new customers within data, cloud and AI consulting.

The key to this position is experience selling consulting or professional services. You will have sold complex, high-value services engagements, ideally in data, cloud or AI, where the value is in outcomes rather than product.

This is a pure new-logo role. There is no inherited account base, no book of existing customers and no pipeline handed over on day one. You will build your own territory from scratch, from target list to first signed project, and you will have the autonomy to do it your way.

We sell complex, high-value consulting engagements, and our buyers don't respond to transactional selling. You'll succeed by being consultative and relationship-led: earning trust, understanding a client's business challenges better than anyone else at the table, and shaping solutions around the outcomes they care about.

Why this role is worth a conversation?
You get to build, not just inherit. A blank sheet is a real opportunity here. You'll decide where to focus, who to target and how to open the door, and you'll see the direct result of every relationship you build.

You'll have something worth talking about. We're trusted partners of AWS and Databricks and we lead from the front on Generative AI adoption, helping clients move from experimentation to production-grade impact. You'll be opening conversations about work that matters, with global brands and public sector leaders.

You won't sell alone. You will partner closely with our delivery, solution architecture and partner alliance teams from the first conversation, to qualify, shape and close opportunities that are credible and deliverable.

You'll help shape how the team wins. You're joining a growing new-business team, with multiple openings, at the point where its approach is still being formed. Your ideas on how we target, engage and win will carry real weight, and uncapped commission means your results are rewarded.

  • Your territory. Defining your target market, researching and prioritising accounts, and building a territory plan that turns a blank sheet into a healthy, self-generated pipeline.
  • New customer relationships. Identifying and engaging decision-makers in organisations we don't yet work with, and building credible, trusted relationships from first conversation through to contract.
  • Consultative selling. Leading discovery-driven conversations that uncover the real business challenge, then framing our value around measurable outcomes such as revenue growth, cost reduction, risk reduction and new market opportunities, rather than technology features.
  • Your own pipeline. Generating opportunities through outbound outreach, industry events, networking, referrals and our AWS and Databricks partner ecosystems.
  • The full sales cycle. Taking opportunities from first contact and qualification through solution shaping, proposal, negotiation and close of the first foundational project.
  • Foundations for long-term accounts. Landing new logos in a way that sets them up to grow, with multi-threaded relationships and a smooth handover into account growth.
  • Creative deal structures. Developing commercial models that align our delivery with the customer's desired outcomes.
  • Forecasting and bookings. Meeting monthly, quarterly and annual new-logo bookings targets, and keeping an accurate, well-qualified pipeline and forecast in our CRM.

We're particularly interested in evidence that you have:
  • A proven new-logo track record. A verifiable history of exceeding targets by winning net-new customers rather than growing existing accounts. Be ready to talk to us through specific logos you opened and how you won them.
  • Built a territory from scratch. You have started with an empty patch before and created a pipeline through your own prospecting and relationship-building.
  • A consultative, relationship-first style. You win through curiosity, insight and trust. You ask great questions, listen hard and build relationships that last beyond a single deal.
  • Sold consulting or professional services. You have sold complex, high-value services engagements, ideally in data, cloud or AI, where the value is in outcomes rather than product.
  • Executive presence. You are confident presenting to C-suite decision-makers (CEO, CFO, CDO, CTO) as well as technical leaders, and can navigate complex buying groups.
  • Drive and autonomy. You are self-motivated, resilient and energised by building something from the ground up.
  • Excellent communication. You are articulate, persuasive and credible in both writing and conversation.
