Role brief

growthroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Work with children on needs such as AAC, stuttering, apraxia, language, literacy, and communication related to ASD or ADHD
  • Start with a parent meeting, then give families and schools practical resources and strategies to use
  • Arrange shared or coordinated work with occupational therapy, psychology, and play therapy when children need multiple services
  • Provide some support at school, home, or in the community, while keeping most sessions clinic based

What you bring

  • Hold Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status or be eligible, with current Speech Pathology Australia membership
  • Bring paediatric clinical experience, ideally with complex or neurodivergent caseloads
  • Feel comfortable working with NDIS clients on their goals and reporting
  • Guide parents as well as children using a family-centred approach

Who this fits

This suits a clinician seeking an entirely paediatric caseload, with most work involving NDIS-funded clients and collaboration across disciplines. You’ll work from the Maroochydore clinic, with occasional sessions elsewhere and light travel. Choose a nine-day fortnight or set hours to suit your caseload.

From the employer

Speech Pathologist, Paediatric NDIS and Complex Communication | Sunshine Coast, QLD

An opportunity has opened for a Speech Pathologist to join a multidisciplinary paediatric practice on the Sunshine Coast. The role is built around children with communication needs, with time to work closely with families and colleagues from other disciplines. It suits a clinician who wants a focused paediatric caseload in a supportive team, with a coastal lifestyle close by.

The practice

  • A locally owned paediatric allied health practice on the Sunshine Coast with a strong reputation among families
  • Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Play Therapy, Feeding Therapy and Counselling all sit under one roof
  • A team of around 17, so your colleagues are down the hall, not across a referral form
  • Therapy that begins with a proper parent meeting, so goals reflect what matters to the family
  • Home resources and practical strategies for families and schools, not just clinic sessions

The role

  • Permanent, with full time or a flexible structure to suit you
  • 100% paediatric, with no adult caseload
  • Roughly 75% NDIS
  • A caseload that can include fluency and stuttering, AAC, childhood apraxia of speech, developmental language disorder, literacy, and communication needs linked to ASD and ADHD
  • Joint or time matched sessions with OT, psychology and play therapy colleagues when a child needs more than one service
  • Occasional support in school, home or community settings, but this is a clinic based role with minimal travel

Hours and flexibility

  • Choose a 9 day fortnight, or set your own hours within what suits your caseload
  • A real say in how your week is structured

Salary and benefits

  • Starting from $90k, depending on experience, plus super
  • A structured mentoring program, so you are supported rather than left to work it out alone
  • Access to a company car for work travel if you do not have your own, with only light travel needed
  • Collaborative clinical culture with senior colleagues across disciplines
  • Opportunities to be involved in groups and holiday programs if that interests you

About you

  • Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (or eligible), with current Speech Pathology Australia membership
  • Paediatric experience, ideally with complex or neurodivergent caseloads
  • Comfortable working with NDIS funded clients, goals and reporting
  • A family centred approach, and the confidence to guide parents as well as children
  • Works well in a team and values asking colleagues for input
  • Evidence based, curious and open to learning

Location

  • Based in a clinic in the Maroochydore area on the Sunshine Coast. You will find cafes, beaches, river walks and an easy commute, so you can leave work and be at the water within minutes.
