About the Senior Content Strategist Role

The Senior Content Strategist is a team player who is equal parts creative thinker, systematic doer, and word nerd. They will partner closely with strategy, UX, product design, and technology teams to shape content-driven digital experiences. They help translate brand strategy, audience needs, and business goals into clear content hierarchies, user pathways, messaging priorities, and scalable content systems across websites and digital products. Copywriting experience is a big plus.

What You'll Do

  • Lead content strategy workstreams across large-scale websites, digital products, and other digital experiences.

  • Plan and run content strategy workshops with clients and internal teams.

  • Analyze results of stakeholder interviews and customer research to inform content direction.

  • Partner with UX and Product Design to define page-level content strategy, content hierarchy, messaging priorities, user pathways, and calls to action.

  • Help shape information architecture, navigation systems, content groupings, and audience pathways for complex digital experiences.

  • Create content strategy deliverables including frameworks, guidelines, and recommendations.

  • Perform content inventories, content audits, and gap analyses.

  • Define content models and requirements that inform reusable components, design systems, and CMS architecture.

  • Capture metadata, taxonomy, and nomenclature guidelines.

  • Create, evaluate, and update content according to defined guidelines; implement naming and tagging conventions.

  • Manage content matrices, editorial calendars, and style guidelines.

  • Document current end-to-end content management processes.

  • Manage and mentor junior team members.

About You

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in content strategy, ideally within an agency, consultancy, digital product, or experience design environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading content strategy for large-scale websites and digital ecosystems, including enterprise or marketing sites with complex audiences, information architectures, and content requirements

  • Formidable strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with teammates, clients, and cross-functional partners.

  • A history of delivering results on time and a drive to create order out of chaos.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Awareness of the content marketing landscape and current UX principles and best practices.

  • Experience collaborating closely with UX, product design, visual design, strategy, and technology teams throughout the design and development process.

  • Experience defining content requirements for component-based design systems and CMS-driven websites.

  • Familiarity with agile methodology; prior experience is a plus.

  • A mobile-first mentality and fluency across social media platforms.

Pay Range: $75,000.00 – 100,000.00

The range shown represents a grouping of relevant ranges currently in use at Material. Actual range for this position may differ, depending on location and specific skillset required for the work itself.
