From the employer
MSP Sales Executive – New Business Development
Location: Hicksville, NY / Long Island
Position Type: Full-Time
Focus: New Business Development / Hunter Sales
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced MSP Sales Executive with a proven ability to identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities. This is a true hunter role focused on bringing new clients into the organization and developing relationships that lead to long-term managed services and technology revenue.
The ideal candidate has previous experience selling for a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or IT services organization and understands how to sell technology solutions based on business needs rather than simply selling individual products.
Candidates who bring an existing book of business, client relationships, or a strong professional network will be highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, develop, and close net-new business opportunities.
- Generate your own pipeline through networking, referrals, outbound prospecting, industry relationships, LinkedIn, and other business-development activities.
- Sell Managed IT Services, including help desk, infrastructure management, monitoring, cloud services, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, professional services, and project-based solutions.
- Sell hardware, software, licensing, cloud, and related technology solutions as part of the overall client relationship.
- Develop relationships with business owners, CIOs, CTOs, IT directors, CFOs, and other key decision-makers.
- Conduct discovery meetings to understand a prospect's business, technology environment, challenges, and objectives.
- Work with technical and solution engineering teams to develop appropriate solutions, proposals, and presentations.
- Manage opportunities throughout the complete sales lifecycle, from initial prospecting through proposal, negotiation, and close.
- Maintain an accurate pipeline, opportunity stages, forecasts, and sales activity within the company's CRM/PSA.
- Build relationships that create recurring revenue opportunities and additional project, hardware, software, and professional services sales.
Qualifications
- Prior MSP or IT services sales experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success generating and closing new business, not simply managing existing accounts.
- Experience selling recurring Managed Services agreements and technology solutions.
- Understanding of technologies such as Microsoft 365, Azure, cybersecurity, networking, cloud infrastructure, backup/disaster recovery, servers, endpoints, and related IT solutions.
- Experience selling hardware and software from major technology vendors is highly desirable.
- Strong prospecting, networking, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Ability to communicate technology solutions effectively to both technical and executive audiences.
- Self-motivated and comfortable being accountable for pipeline development and revenue targets.
- Existing client relationships, industry connections, or an established book of business are highly preferred.
What We're Looking For
This is not primarily an account-management position. We are looking for someone who enjoys developing relationships from scratch, opening new accounts, and closing business.
The successful candidate should be comfortable building their own pipeline and should have the experience and relationships necessary to quickly establish credibility with prospective clients.
Ideal Candidate
You may be a strong fit if you are currently selling for an MSP, VAR, technology services provider, or IT consulting organization and have built a network of customers and prospects who trust you. You understand how to sell recurring managed services while also identifying opportunities for projects, cloud, cybersecurity, hardware, software, and licensing.
The goal is simple: bring in new clients, grow recurring revenue, and expand the company's customer base.
