Are you ready?
As a Federal Government Strategic Account Manager, you will develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability with strategic Federal Government customers and accounts. This position will focus on expanding Graybar's presence across Federal agencies, the Department of Defense (DOD), defense-related organizations, and the broader Federal Government marketplace. The role will build strategic relationships with Federal customers, prime contractors, systems integrators, defense contractors, and other organizations supporting Federal and DOD programs.
This is a remote position that can be based anywhere near a major airport.
In this role you will:
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical account plans for assigned Federal Government and DOD customers, programs, agencies, and strategic accounts.
- Identify, develop, and pursue new Federal business opportunities across multiple agencies, installations, commands, programs, and geographic locations.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Federal prime contractors, systems integrators, defense contractors, engineering firms, and other partners supporting Federal and DOD programs.
- Work collaboratively with Graybar branches, districts, sales teams, contract managers, suppliers, and internal business partners to execute Federal account strategies.
- Coordinate customer requirements across multiple sites, agencies, divisions, programs, and business units.
- Provide Federal Government and DOD market knowledge, sales direction, and training to districts, branches, and Field Account Managers as required.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible sales, marketing, account management, or operating experience, preferably with significant Federal Government or DOD experience.
- Preferred working knowledge of DOD procurement and the unique requirements associated with selling to DOD agencies, installations, commands, and defense-related organizations.
- Preferred experience working with Federal prime contractors, systems integrators, defense contractors, engineering firms, and other organizations supporting Federal Government programs.
- Experience developing and managing strategic accounts with multiple stakeholders, locations, business units, or programs.
- Four-year degree preferred.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Ability to make effective oral and written presentations to audiences at all levels, including senior executives, Federal officials, contracting personnel, program managers, and industry partners.
- Ability to think strategically while translating strategy into measurable sales execution.
- Ability to work collaboratively across a national organization and influence without direct authority.
- Ability to execute plans on time and within budget while achieving successful business results.
- Extensive travel required.
Pay Details:
The expected salary for this position is starting at $120,000 annually depending on experience. This position is also bonus eligible based on specific and relevant business metrics.
This role requires the use of your personal vehicle for business purposes. Graybar offers a Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) reimbursement program to support eligible drivers. This program allows you to choose and drive your own vehicle, rather than a company-assigned car, and your reimbursements can help you build equity in your vehicle over time. Please note that certain vehicle requirements, such as age and original MSRP, may impact your eligibility for tax-free reimbursement.
