  • You can manage several projects while maintaining detail, and handle budgets, timesheets and financial reporting

Who this fits

This director-level role suits an experienced account lead who can own client relationships, regulated delivery and account finances while mentoring junior colleagues. It is based in Sydney with a hybrid setup.

From the employer

At Orchard, we believe creativity and technology should work hand-in-hand to invent better outcomes. We’re Australia’s leading health and wellness agency, blending modern marketing with science and powered by deep digital experience. Our work wins effectiveness awards and, more importantly, creates meaningful change for patients, HCPs, and the brands we partner with.

We’re a fun, hardworking team that leaves egos at the door. Past that door? A collaborative studio filled with inspiring people, big ideas, and yes, free crumpets.

As Account Director, you’ll be the day-to-day lead on complex health/pharma accounts and multi-brand portfolios. You’ll be the link between our clients and internal teams, building trusted client relationships, owning the commercial health of your accounts and running delivery end-to-end. You’ll coordinate creative, medical writing, strategy and tech, lead regulatory workflows and mentor junior team members.

Role & Responsibilities

Clients

  • Know your client’s business and brands inside out, and become a trusted partner to their brand and marketing leads.
  • Be the day-to-day client contact. Proactively communicate status and flag challenges early, with options.
  • Align internal teams to deliver against client marketing strategies with precision and consistency.
  • Bring a considered point of view to briefs and identify opportunities to grow the work.
  • Make sure the “brilliant basics” are always in place.

Project & Portfolio Delivery

  • Own schedules, budgets, risks and quality across complex digital and omnichannel projects (sites, iVAs/eDetailers, Approved Emails, campaigns, content programs). Where a PM is assigned, partner with them on day-to-day delivery.
  • Translate briefs into scoped plans with milestones, dependencies and review gates. Run stand-ups, WIPs and stakeholder forums.
  • Mentor junior team members on estimation, briefing, client communication and handover excellence.

Healthcare Compliance

  • Lead MLR and regulatory workflows (Medicines Australia Code, TGA) with impeccable documentation.
  • Oversee routing and tracking of materials through Veeva PromoMats/Vault (and client equivalents), coordinating medical/legal reviews and ensuring audit readiness.
  • Anticipate compliance risks and build realistic delivery plans around gating and approval cycles.

Financial Management

  • Take responsibility for the financial health of your accounts. Manage budgets, burn and change control with discipline.
  • Track projects weekly, take part in fortnightly BVA meetings and make sure projects are profitable on completion.
  • Maintain accurate revenue forecasts and align resource planning to them.
  • Flag variances early with options, and lead estimates for new briefs and scope changes.
  • Identify organic growth opportunities within your accounts.

Ways of Working & Tools

  • Use Orchard’s tool suite (Workbook, Jira, PageProof, Confluence) to document and traffic work through the agency. Keep Jira boards and ticket quality clean and documentation current.
  • Be the quality gatekeeper. Nothing goes to the client unless it meets Orchard’s standards.
  • Use AI tools to speed up documentation, risk scans, QA checklists and status reporting.
  • 5–7+ years in digital/creative/health communications; strong record in regulated delivery
  • Confidence with Veeva, MLR cycles, claims/referencing with medical writers
  • End-to-end delivery experience across omnichannel campaigns, content programs, and digital assets
  • Strong organisational capability; able to manage multiple concurrent projects without losing detail or quality
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication; confident running meetings and presenting status
  • Comfort with budgets, timesheets, and financial reporting; understands the link between delivery decisions and margin
  • Calm, proactive communicator; highly organised; commercially literate
