The business offers a growing range of products, including face masks, yoga mats and caps for people, therapy pads, leg wraps and jackets for pets, and bell boots and therapy wraps for horses. Kataki positions its products as a science-backed, drug-free approach to recovery and wellbeing.
Kataki sells directly to customers through its Shopify store and is supported by an active social media presence. As the business grows, it needs dependable systems, a well-maintained online store and a consistent customer experience from first click through to delivery.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised E-commerce & Digital Marketing Specialist to support Kataki across four key areas: Shopify maintenance and conversion optimisation, social media advertising and content, backend order processing and customer service.
The successful candidate will keep the Shopify store running smoothly and converting well, plan and manage paid social campaigns, produce engaging content, and make sure orders flow accurately between Shopify and Odoo, with stock levels kept up to date.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable moving between marketing, systems and operations work. They should be able to identify what needs attention and follow tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
The position will initially be part-time at 25–30 hours per week, with the expectation of moving to full-time within approximately 3 months as order volume and responsibilities grow.
The key objective is to help Kataki grow online sales while keeping store, order and customer operations accurate, efficient and well organised.
Key Responsibilities
Shopify Store Maintenance
- Maintain and update the Shopify store, including products, collections, pages, navigation and theme settings.
- Create and update product listings with accurate descriptions, variants, pricing, images and sizing information.
- Manage Shopify apps and integrations, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Monitor the store for broken links, display issues, checkout problems and outdated content.
- Set up and manage discount codes, promotions and seasonal campaigns.
- Ensure store content is accurate, on-brand and consistent across all product ranges.
- Keep clear records of store changes, app settings and key configurations.
Conversion Rate Optimisation
- Review store performance, including traffic, conversion rate, average order value and cart abandonment.
- Identify points in the customer journey where visitors drop off and recommend practical improvements.
- Improve product pages, landing pages and calls to action to increase conversions.
- Plan and run A/B tests on page layouts, offers, imagery and copy.
- Optimise site speed, mobile experience and checkout flow.
- Support email and SMS flows, such as abandoned cart, welcome and post-purchase sequences.
- Report regularly on results and recommend next steps.
Social Media Advertising
- Plan, build and manage paid advertising campaigns across Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok.
- Set up audiences, retargeting campaigns, lookalike audiences and conversion tracking.
- Monitor campaign performance daily and adjust budgets, creative and targeting to improve return on ad spend.
- Test new ad formats, hooks, offers and audiences in a structured way.
- Make sure the Meta Pixel, Conversions API and TikTok Pixel are tracking accurately.
- Ensure all advertising and product claims follow the business's approved messaging and relevant New Zealand advertising standards.
- Produce clear performance reports covering spend, results and recommendations.
Social Media Content
- Plan and maintain a regular content calendar across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
- Create engaging organic content, including short-form video, graphics, product demonstrations and customer stories.
- Edit video and imagery for ads and organic/paid posts using tools such as Canva and CapCut.
- Write captions and ad copy that suit each platform and audience (people, pet owners and equestrian customers).
- Respond to comments and messages, and flag customer enquiries or concerns.
- Monitor trends and competitor activity to identify new content opportunities.
Order Processing & ERP Integration (ERP needs setting up)
- Process and monitor incoming orders to ensure they are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the integration between Shopify and a potential ERP (they dont have one yet
- Check that orders, customers, products and payments sync correctly between systems.
- Identify and resolve failed syncs, duplicate orders and data mismatches.
- Coordinate with fulfilment and courier partners on dispatch, tracking and delivery issues.
- Manage returns, refunds and exchanges in line with the business's policies, including the 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Maintain clear records of order issues and how they were resolved.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Keep stock levels accurate across Shopify and back end system/tracking
- Monitor inventory levels and flag low-stock or out-of-stock items early.
- Support reorder planning based on sales trends, lead times and upcoming promotions.
- Complete regular stock reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Update product availability, pre-orders and backorders on the store.
- Maintain accurate SKU, variant and product data across all systems.
Customer Service
- Respond to customer enquiries by email, live chat and social media in a friendly, professional and timely manner.
- Answer questions about products, sizing, usage, shipping, returns and order status.
- Resolve order issues, delivery delays and product concerns, and escalate where required.
- Maintain templates and FAQs for common questions.
- Record customer feedback and recurring issues to help improve products, the store and processes.
- Help scale customer service processes as order volume grows.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare regular reports on sales, ad performance, conversion rates, stock levels and customer service trends.
- Document recurring workflows, checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Identify repeated errors, bottlenecks or manual steps that could be automated or improved.
- Recommend practical improvements across the store, marketing and operations.
Tools & Systems
- Shopify – strong hands-on experience required
- ERP System – experience strongly preferred to help set up
- Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads Manager
- Google Analytics 4 and Shopify Analytics
- Canva, CapCut or comparable design and video-editing tools
- Customer service platforms (e.g. Gorgias, Zendesk or Shopify Inbox)
- Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
Requirements
- At least 3–4 years of experience in e-commerce, digital marketing or online store operations.
- Proven hands-on experience maintaining and optimising Shopify stores.
- Demonstrated experience running profitable paid social campaigns on Meta and/or TikTok.
- Ability to create engaging social media content, including short-form video.
- Practical understanding of conversion rate optimisation, A/B testing and e-commerce analytics.
- Experience with backend order processing, fulfilment and inventory management.
- Experience with ERP or inventory system integrated with Shopify.
- Strong troubleshooting skills when integrations, syncs or store features stop working.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to write clear, customer-ready content and replies.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with product data, stock levels and order accuracy.
- Ability to manage priorities across marketing, operations and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- Reliable internet connection and a professional home-office environment.
