About the role

We are seeking a Technical Product Marketing Manager to drive the technical content, developer evangelism, and sales enablement that bring PhoenixAI's Agentic Database to market. This is a hands-on, hybrid role at the intersection of product marketing and developer relations: you'll write about the product, speak about it to engineers and technical buyers, demo it live, and arm our sales team to sell it. The ideal candidate is an engineer at heart who can also write and speak — someone who has built with data systems and can translate that depth into content, talks, and enablement that resonate with technical audiences.

What you'll do

As our Technical Product Marketing Manager, you'll be a key contributor to PhoenixAI's go-to-market, working across four connected areas: content, evangelism, enablement, and launches. Your responsibilities include:

  • Technical Content Creation: Research, write, and publish technical content — blog posts, tutorials, benchmarks, competitive comparisons, and solution briefs — that demonstrates product depth and drives awareness and adoption among engineers and technical buyers.
  • Developer Evangelism & Speaking: Represent PhoenixAI and StarRocks to technical audiences — deliver webinars, speak at meetups and industry conferences, and present live product demos to prospects and at events.
  • Demos & Sample Code: Build and maintain product demos, sample applications, and short-form video content that showcase the Agentic Database in realistic scenarios; keep them current as the product evolves.
  • Community Engagement: Engage directly with users in the StarRocks community channels, answer technical questions, surface recurring themes, and help grow an active, well-informed developer community around the open-source project.
  • Sales Enablement: Build and deliver technical enablement for Sales and Solutions — pitch decks, battlecards, demo scripts, and FAQs — plus regular training sessions, new-hire onboarding, and competitive briefings that keep the field sharp on product and market.
  • Product Launches & Competitive Intelligence: Support product and feature launches with launch content, demos, and enablement; track competitors such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, and Trino and turn what you learn into differentiated messaging, comparisons, and objection handling.
  • Messaging & Feedback Loop: Contribute to PhoenixAI's positioning and messaging across the open-source (StarRocks) and commercial offerings, and bring signals from the community, customers, and sales back to product and marketing to sharpen the narrative.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with product management, engineering, sales, and marketing to keep content, demos, and enablement accurate, current, and grounded in real product capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, developer relations, technical product marketing, or a related technical role — ideally at a B2B data infrastructure or AI startup.
  • Hands-on software development experience; proficient in SQL and comfortable building and presenting live product demos.
  • Strong technical foundation in databases, distributed systems, or lakehouse architectures; able to hold your own in technical conversations with engineers and technical buyers.
  • Strong writer who can produce clear, accurate technical content — from blog posts to tutorials to battlecards — with coaching on positioning and voice.
  • Confident presenter, comfortable delivering technical talks, webinars, and demos live and fielding questions from engineers.
  • Curious, high-energy, and eager to learn; thrives in a fast-moving, low-process startup environment and enjoys working across teams.

Strong plus:

  • Experience speaking at meetups, webinars, or industry conferences.
  • Familiarity with StarRocks, ClickHouse, Trino, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar analytical data systems.
  • Experience contributing to or building around an open-source project and its community.
  • Video or short-form content production experience.

The base salary for this role is projected at $150,000 - $200,000 annually, plus eligibility for PhoenixAI's bonus and equity programs. Individual compensation will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package featuring premium medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Employees enjoy at least 16 days of PTO, parental leave, health savings options, and access to our employee assistance program.
