From the employer

We're looking for an enthusiastic intern to support our communications team in the lead-up to the British Rowing and World Rowing Indoor Championships. This is an exciting opportunity to get first hand experience in the day to day running of a social media and communications team, and experience the exciting buzz of reporting during a major sporting event.

What you'll be doing:
  • Writing stories and features about the sport, athletes, and build-up to the Indoor Championships

  • Help manage the day-to-day social media activity

  • Supporting live reporting/coverage during the event itself

  • Assisting with general editorial and communications tasks as they come up

  • Knowledge of rowing across all disciplines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable using social media platforms

  • Enthusiastic, a fast learner, and a can-do attitude

What you’ll get out of it:

  • Hands-on experience at a global sporting event, including event communications experience

  • A portfolio of written and social media content

  • The opportunity to take ownership of your own work and see it through from idea to publication

  • Learn to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools

Don’t meet all the requirements? While the list highlights some key skills,, we are more interested in someone who is willing to learn, get stuck in and bring an enthusiastic character to the team as we build up to one of the sport’s largest events. We also want to help you develop! If there are any areas in particular you’d like to explore whilst at British Rowing, or projects you’d like to get stuck into, please let us know as we will do our best to provide these opportunities to you.
