■Job Description

The Sr Director Corporate Communications is responsible for enhancing and protecting AstraZeneca Japan's reputation through effective corporate communications and media relations activities.

This role will support the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across corporate, product, Operation and R&D communications in Japan. Working closely with global teams, R&D, Operations and other teams in Japan MC, the role holder will contribute to positioning AstraZeneca as a science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company in the Japanese market.

A key objective of this role is to contribute to establishing AstraZeneca as one of the top non-Japanese companies contributing to Japan's healthcare, positioning the company as a "go-to" partner for policy dialogue among non-Japanese pharmaceutical companies and building recognition as a trusted partner for healthcare policy discussions with government and policy stakeholders.

Corporate reputation is a critical element for attracting top talent to achieve our vision. This role will contribute to building AstraZeneca's employer brand and external reputation to support talent acquisition efforts. Equally important, internal communications play a vital role in talent retention by fostering employee engagement, connection to company purpose, and a sense of belonging.

This role also oversees corporate partnership activities that contribute to AstraZeneca's reputation, including embassy relationships, chamber of commerce engagement, and sustainability partnerships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong media relations capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization. This role combines corporate communications and media relations responsibilities, requiring versatility and adaptability to manage diverse stakeholder engagement.

■Requirement

【Experience】
• 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations
• Track record of developing and executing integrated communications strategies
• Experience in media relations with established relationships with Japanese media outlets
• Experience in crisis/issues management is highly desirable
• Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred; candidates from highly regulated industries will be considered
• Experience working in a multinational/global matrix organization
