Who this fits

This senior individual-contributor role suits someone comfortable building a market independently, navigating complex public-sector decisions, and working with both senior executives and delivery teams. The role is based in New Zealand, ideally Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, and combines flexible remote work with customer and industry travel. You’ll work across a distributed team and coordinate closely with Government Solutions, Customer, Product, Technology and Marketing.

From the employer

You've sold technology to cities. Now help change how cities work.

Archistar is looking for an exceptional Regional Sales Director – Government Solutions to help drive our continued growth across New Zealand.

We're looking for an experienced GovTech sales professional who understands the New Zealand local government market, the people, procurement environment, challenges councils face, and what it takes to build trusted, long-term government relationships.

If you've built your career selling planning, resource consenting, building consenting, land management, GIS, regulatory technology, civic technology, digital government or enterprise SaaS solutions to councils or government agencies, we'd like to talk.

Why this opportunity is different

Archistar is at the forefront of applying AI to one of the biggest challenges facing New Zealand today — modernising planning, resource consent and building approval processes and helping communities get housing and development moving faster.

Our world-leading AI PreCheck technology helps government improve the quality of applications entering the assessment process, assess planning and building requirements earlier, reduce unnecessary rework and create better experiences for council teams, applicants and communities.

Our technology is already being used by government customers internationally, and we're continuing to grow our presence across New Zealand.

Now is a great time to join Archistar as we continue to expand our government footprint across Australia.

The opportunity

As Regional Sales Director – New Zealand, you'll own new government business across the country and play an important role in building Archistar's presence in the New Zealand GovTech market.

This is a senior individual contributor role with significant autonomy. You'll personally develop opportunities, build strategic relationships and lead complex government technology sales from first conversation through procurement and contract.

What you'll do

  • Build and execute a territory strategy across New Zealand local government.
  • Create and develop a strong pipeline of new council and government opportunities.
  • Build trusted relationships with council executives, planning and consenting leaders, building control teams, CIOs and technology leaders, regulatory services teams, procurement teams and other key government stakeholders.
  • Identify councils and government agencies looking to modernise planning, resource consenting, building consenting and development approval processes.
  • Lead complex enterprise sales cycles from initial engagement and discovery through demonstrations, business cases, procurement and contract.
  • Navigate tenders, RFQs, RFPs, public-sector procurement and multi-stakeholder decision-making.
  • Develop strategic relationships across the New Zealand local government, planning, consenting and GovTech ecosystem.
  • Work closely with our Government Solutions, Customer, Product, Technology and Marketing teams to turn opportunities into successful long-term partnerships.
  • Represent Archistar at local government, planning, technology and industry events.
  • Bring market intelligence and customer insight into the business as we continue to evolve our technology for New Zealand councils.
  • Own your pipeline, forecasting and revenue performance.

Requirements

What we're looking for

You already know this market.

You've sold enterprise technology into New Zealand local government or the broader public sector and understand that successful government partnerships are built on credibility, relationships, persistence and trust.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • 7+ years' enterprise SaaS or technology sales experience.
  • A strong track record selling into New Zealand councils or the broader public sector.
  • Established relationships within the New Zealand local government or GovTech ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated success creating pipeline and winning new government customers.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales.
  • Strong knowledge of tenders, RFPs, RFQs and public-sector procurement.
  • A history of achieving or exceeding significant sales targets.
  • Confidence engaging everyone from council chief executives and senior leaders to planning, consenting, regulatory, operational and technical teams.
  • The ability to translate sophisticated technology into a clear and compelling business case.
  • Strong commercial, presentation and negotiation skills.

Experience selling planning, resource consenting, building consenting, land management, GIS, regulatory technology, civic technology or digital government solutions would be highly regarded.

You'll thrive at Archistar if you...

  • Enjoy opening doors and building markets.
  • Genuinely care about your customers and the outcomes they're trying to achieve.
  • Understand that our government customers are there to serve their communities — and see our role as helping them do that as successfully as possible.
  • Can navigate complex organisations, bring people together and build consensus around change.
  • Are excited about translating world-leading AI technology into practical outcomes that government leaders and their teams can understand and trust.
