Angel City VA is looking for a Bilingual Patient Communication Specialist that serves as a key communication bridge between patients, providers, and clinic staff, ensuring accurate, professional, and culturally sensitive communication in both English and Spanish. This role is responsible for providing real-time verbal interpretation, written translation support, patient communication management, and administrative assistance related to patient care coordination. The ideal candidate will have strong bilingual communication skills, excellent grammar and writing abilities, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience in healthcare communication.
This position will support patient interactions through phone calls, SMS messaging, appointment coordination, follow-up communication, and general administrative support while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Interpretation & Translation:
• Provide accurate verbal interpretation between English and Spanish for patients, providers, and clinic staff.
• Ensure accurate use of medical terminology in both languages.
• Maintain cultural sensitivity and communication clarity in all interactions.
Patient Communication Support
• Respond to patient SMS messages professionally, accurately, and with proper grammar in both English and Spanish.
• Triage patient concerns, inquiries, and communication issues, escalating cases to the appropriate department or clinical team to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
• Handle inbound and outbound patient phone calls.
• Assist patients with appointment scheduling, confirmations, follow-ups, referrals, and general inquiries.
• Support providers and staff with patient communication needs.
Administrative & Clinical Support
• Assist with communication workflows related to patient care coordination.
• Document communication interactions accurately in clinic systems.
• Support administrative tasks related to patient communication and scheduling.

• Provide general support to clinical and operational teams as needed.
Compliance & Quality Standards
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications
• Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) — required.
