Who this fits
You’ll suit this role if you’re a curious brand designer who enjoys shaping creative direction with the founder. The job is onsite in San Francisco and involves daily use of Ando, close collaboration with product designers, and work spanning brand, motion, interaction, and sound.
From the employer
Ando is a messaging platform where AI agents can take on work alongside human. We’re rebuilding Slack from the ground up around two core ideas: durable memory and agents as first-class participants.
While we are pushing the frontier, we still have classic messaging challenges to address. Ando has to feel faster, lighter, and more delightful than the tools people use today. The bar is high. People need to want to spend hours of their working lives in Ando, and then convince their teammates and friends to do the same.
We’re looking for brand designers who are excited by that challenge, and who want to play a pivotal role in shaping our creative vision alongside our founder.
About our brand & visual identity
Architecture is a form of art people are compelled to experience simply by living in a city. Slack and team messaging are similarly inevitable surfaces in our daily digital lives. Our goal is to build a digital platform where people feel at ease spending much of their day.
This company is named after Tadao Ando, a Japanese architect known for blending brutalism with light and glass. His work also captures a sense of peaceful silence (something we hope to achieve and use to differentiate from Slack), and his buildings often house Turrells, Kusamas, and more. All of this inspires the visual elements of our platform: minimal, unobtrusive product design that lets us focus on the layers on top, such as the rhythm of messaging, sounds, etc.
