The Role at a Glance

We are looking for an ambitious, strategic, and high-performing Head of Business Development to sit within our established UK commercial team. In this pivotal role, you will be a key commercial driver behind acquiring new enterprise partners, expanding our market footprint, and forging high-value insurance partnerships.

Working alongside experienced commercial leaders, account managers, and solution architects, you will combine a sharp "hunter" instinct with a deep understanding of the UK general insurance landscape to turn prospective opportunities into long-term, scalable revenue.

What you Will Do

● Drive New Business Growth: Lead end-to-end sales processes for enterprise-level insurance opportunities, consistently delivering against agreed revenue and strategic targets

● Integrate with Commercial Team: Collaborate closely with our existing commercial, marketing, and client management teams to align go-to-market efforts, leverage existing relationships, and present a unified front to complex enterprise targets

● Build Market Visibility: Elevate Wrisk’s profile across target sectors through targeted touchpoint campaigns, joint sales and marketing initiatives, and active industry engagement

● Pipeline Management: Identify, qualify, and nurture a robust pipeline of high-potential clients, managing complex sales cycles from initial outreach through to commercial sign-off

● Cross-Functional Deal Leadership: Mobilise teams across commercial, platform product, legal, compliance, and underwriting capacity partners to formulate commercially viable, compliant, and innovative solutions

● Executive Dialogue & Negotiation: Lead high-stakes commercial negotiations and build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders

● Market & Performance Analysis: Leverage key performance data, market insights, and competitor analysis to refine business development strategies and support periodic commercial planning

● Feedback & Innovation: Provide structured win/lose debriefs and work alongside product teams to ensure client requirements continuously inform Wrisk’s overall capability roadmap

About You

Experience

● Proven BD Track Record: Demonstrated success as an enterprise-level "hunter" in business development, consistently exceeding revenue targets within complex sales environments

● Insurance Partnerships Expertise: Significant experience operating within the UK insurance partnerships sector (e.g., OEM, Retail, Bancassurance etc)

● UK Insurance Market & MGA Knowledge: Strong understanding of the UK general insurance market, including MGA operating models, delegated authority, and relevant FCA regulatory frameworks

● Complex Deal Structuring: Proven ability to navigate long sales cycles, build consensus across matrixed enterprise clients, and close multi-faceted commercial contracts

● Team Collaboration: Experience working effectively within a mature, multi-disciplinary commercial unit to co-develop strategies and pursue target accounts.

Skills & Competencies

● Commercial & Strategic Acumen: Ability to structure profitable, scalable deals that align Wrisk’s capabilities with client strategic objectives

● Stakeholder Influence: Exceptional communication, pitch presentation, and negotiation skills, with natural presence and credibility at the board/executive level

● Adaptability & Organisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage competing enterprise priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced scale-up environment

● Analytical Mindset: Able to translate market data, pricing structures, and performance metrics into actionable sales strategies

● Qualifications: ACII qualification is highly desirable (or equivalent proven insurance market experience).
