Role brief

Growth Roles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Build the regional partner base across independent bike shops, major retailers, and OEMs
  • Prospect heavily by email, phone, and in-person visits, then take opportunities through signed deals
  • Manage each partnership from initial contact through onboarding, ongoing relationships, and performance reviews
  • Find and negotiate access to strong second-hand electric bike inventory in your territory
  • Travel to partner meetings, represent Upway professionally, and coordinate with operations, marketing, and product

What you bring

  • At least three years in business development, B2B sales, sourcing, or partner management
  • A record of managing a sales pipeline and successfully closing agreements
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and independent time-management skills
  • Experience meeting clients in person and working in field sales
  • Frequent travel readiness, including travel of up to half your working time

Who this fits

You’ll suit a self-directed seller who enjoys outbound prospecting, field meetings, negotiation, and owning results through ambiguity. The role is listed as hybrid in Seattle, while the description places the US Operations team in Los Angeles. Frequent travel, potentially up to half your time, is part of the job.

From the employer

About the Company

At Upway, we’re on a mission to make electric mobility accessible to everyone. As the leading platform for certified, pre-owned e-bikes, we’re redefining how the world moves—sustainably, affordably, and intelligently.

Operating across 8 countries, including France, Germany, and the US, and backed by $65M+ from top-tier investors like Sequoia, Exor Seed, and Korelya Capital, we’re growing fast—and looking for people who are ready to move fast with us.

We’re a global company with local teams in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, and Düsseldorf, united by a shared belief: electric mobility should be the norm, not the exception.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our US Operations team in Los Angeles and lead the expansion of our partner network. This is a high-ownership role for a true seller—someone who thrives in outbound sales, builds strong relationships, and delivers results in a high-velocity environment.

You’ll be responsible for owning the entire sales cycle—from cold outreach to deal closing—and for sourcing the best second-hand e-bikes in your territory through retail and brand partnerships.

  • Own the full partner lifecycle: from cold outreach to onboarding, relationship management, and performance tracking
  • Drive outbound sales: perform high-volume prospecting via email, phone, and in-person visits—especially in the first 1–2 months
  • Build and grow our partner network in your region, including independent bike shops, large retailers, and OEMs
  • Source and negotiate the best possible inventory of second-hand electric bikes
  • Travel extensively to meet with partners, understand their needs, and build long-term relationships
  • Act as the face of Upway in the market—representing our brand with professionalism, integrity, and passion
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and product teams to ensure a seamless customer and partner experience
  • Deliver against ambitious targets while maintaining a high standard of execution and attention to detail

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, B2B sales, sourcing, or partner management, ideally in a fast-paced or startup environment
  • Proven track record of owning a sales pipeline and closing deals
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills—you know how to build trust and influence decisions
  • High energy and self-motivation—you’re comfortable working independently, managing your time, and pushing through ambiguity
  • Experience with in-person client interactions and field sales
  • Strong organizational skills and bias for action
  • Passion for sustainability, mobility, and making an impact
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%).
