UTA seeks an Associate, Communications as part of our Sports Group’s sports and entertainment-focused communications team reporting to the Vice President, Communications. This role is responsible for executing external and internal communications and media relations for UTA’s sports arm and its clients. This position supports all internal and corporate communications and provides day-to-day support for the agency’s clients across all sports and divisions, responsible for pitching and securing media coverage in regional and national news, advertising, business, marketing, lifestyle, entertainment and sports outlets. This role is based in our Beverly Hills, CA office.
The salary range for this role is $71,000 to $75,000 commensurate with experience and skills.
What You Will Do
· Executes strategies to promote and drive awareness of Sports Group’s clients and business areas across all sports year-round
· Secures coverage in local and national sports, consumer, entertainment and news media to drive clients short and long-term goals, and increase awareness of Sports Group announcements, events and partnerships
· Supports Sports Group’s internal and corporate communications functions, responsible for creating executive and company-wide communications, and managing award and list submissions, speaking engagements, events and philanthropic opportunities
· Develop department systems and processes - maintains contact databases and company calendars, manages interview logistics, tracks and clips media placements, generates presentations, and more
· Creates and edits pitches, press releases, media advisories, newsletters, memos, talking points, social copy, and any other internal and external messaging
· Works closely with UTA/Sports Group agents, executives, marketing and social teams to craft messaging, drive targeted narratives and execute impactful audience engagement
What You Will Need
· 5+ years’ experience in public relations, communications, professional writing and/or marketing in-house, at an agency, or both
· Experience working with professional sports leagues/teams or leading media brands, and knowledge of media relations, corporate communications, or sports marketing
· Experience securing local and national stories and news items across television, print and online media
· Experience executing PR strategy in collaboration with sports leagues/teams, brands, agencies or community organizations for events, marketing campaigns, and public announcements.
· Experience with Muckrack, Cision, Adobe/PhotoShop, and content production or graphic design are a plus Strong writing and editing skills, and the ability to communicate efficiently and clearly when speaking and writing
