The Director, Advisor Marketing leads the strategy and delivery of marketing capabilities that help Thrivent advisors build stronger practices, deepen client relationships, and drive sustainable growth. This leader serves as a strategic partner to Distribution and the field, translating advisor needs and business priorities into differentiated, scalable marketing solutions.
The Director oversees a modern advisor marketing model that combines high-touch strategic support through our in-house marketing services, scalable self-service resources, and ongoing marketing training and enablement. This role ensures advisors have access to the right strategies, tools, content, training, and resources to market their practices effectively—while continuously evolving the experience to make marketing easier, more accessible, and more impactful for advisors.
The Director of Advisor Marketing is a key member of the Marketing Leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice President, Advisor Marketing.
The Director of Advisor Marketing is responsible for:
Leading the advisor marketing strategy and service model across the advisor ecosystem, creating differentiated levels of support based on advisor needs, business objectives, and growth opportunities.
Leading the in-house advisor marketing agency, providing strategic counsel and marketing execution support that enables advisors and practices to build their brands, generate demand, engage clients, and grow their businesses.
Building a modern advisor marketing experience in partnership with Product Operating team, by developing scalable, self-service tools, campaigns, content, templates, and resources that advisors can easily access, customize, and activate to support their business goals.
Driving advisor marketing enablement and adoption, equipping advisors with the knowledge, training, best practices, and guidance needed to confidently leverage Thrivent’s marketing capabilities and resources.
Serving as the voice of the advisor within Marketing, bringing field insights, advisor needs, and emerging opportunities into the broader marketing organization and influencing priorities, products, content, and capabilities.
Connecting Distribution and Marketing, building strong partnerships with field leaders, local engagement teams, individual practices, new Financial Advisors, and marketing teams to translate business priorities into effective marketing solutions.
Leading and developing teams and resources responsible for key advisor growth capabilities, including lead generation, practice marketing, advisor content and collateral, campaign activation, and marketing education.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
10+ years’ experience within Marketing with a focus on sales enablement marketing, marketing strategy and execution, client acquisition or recruitment marketing.
Advisor or field relationships or experience strongly preferred.
Financial services industry and product knowledge strongly preferred.
College degree required; MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
Proven ability to build relationships with and influence across all levels within the organization.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence a broad group of stakeholders and senior leaders, often without direct authority or span of control, team-oriented consensus builder who understands how to achieve buy-in from different leaders, builds bridges and designs "win-win" solutions across a large, matrixed organization.
Leadership experience, 10+ years of management experience.
Collaborative style; focus on results and cross-enterprise solutions.
