ABOUT SPHERE

Every breakthrough in trade infrastructure has followed the same pattern: reduce a transaction cost, expand the market. Containerization for goods. SWIFT for money. Stripe for payments. Compliance is one of the last and largest — and the hardest, because trade rules aren't data to be looked up. They're a complex adaptive system with 190+ sovereign jurisdictions, in different languages, changing constantly, reacting to each other.

Sphere built the system that solves it. Our AI (TRAM) ingests global trade law, interprets it, resolves conflicts across jurisdictions, and produces compliance determinations more reliable than human experts. We handle the entire lifecycle — calculation, registration, filing, remittance — at millisecond latency with zero downtime.

  • Backed by a16z and YC. $21M Series A, 30%+ month-over-month growth, customers include ElevenLabs, Replit, Deel, Runway, and Lovable.

  • Small team, global surface area. Everyone owns a domain that would be a full team at a larger company. San Francisco, five days in office.

  • The problem keeps compounding. Expanding into input tax, withholding, e-invoicing, tariffs — each multiplies the complexity. Tens of millions of transactions today, billions ahead.

THE ROLE

You'll own Sphere's visual voice. That means shooting and editing polished content about what we're building—product releases, company updates, thought leadership—content that lands on LinkedIn, our website, and in GTM campaigns. This isn't TikTok energy or e-commerce product shots. It's clean, intentional, proof-of-work storytelling.

You'll shoot, edit, and design. Grade footage. Build basic animations. Create static assets for organic posts and paid campaigns. You'll see a brief, figure out the shot, execute it cleanly, and move on. You'll work three days in our San Francisco office where you can collaborate directly on creative direction and see rough cuts early. You'll also travel to key industry conferences—both to capture content and to be part of Sphere's presence in the market.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Within weeks

  • Shoot and edit company announcement videos and product demos

  • Create motion graphics and lower thirds for LinkedIn and website content

  • Design static assets for organic social and paid advertising

  • Work with the team on brand continuity across all visual output

Within months

  • Own Sphere's video content calendar and creative direction

  • Travel to conferences/events to shoot behind-the-scenes, interviews, and event coverage

  • Build a library of reusable motion templates and design systems

  • Develop efficient workflows that let one person move at startup pace

  • Collaborate with founding team on strategic content around product launches and company milestones

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience in videography, editing, or motion design (agency, in-house brand, or freelance)

  • Mastery of camera fundamentals: aperture, ISO, shutter speed, lenses, lighting, and audio recording

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects) or similar editing suite

  • Experience with color grading and basic motion design/animation

  • Strong portfolio of digital, social, and brand video work

  • Ability to shoot, edit, and deliver polish at startup velocity

  • Comfortable traveling to conferences/events; able to shoot on the fly and capture content in live event environments

  • You own your own camera equipment. Sphere covers editing subscriptions, software, and can provide additional gear as needed.

  • You're in San Francisco, available three days per week in office.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience in B2B or SaaS content

  • Familiarity with Figma for static work

  • Understanding of platform-specific best practices (LinkedIn, YouTube, website formats)

  • Prior experience covering live events or conferences

WHO YOU ARE

You'll thrive here if:

  • You're scrappy. You don't need a full studio to execute. You figure out angles, lighting, and shot composition with what's on hand. You move fast without sacrificing quality.

  • You're a craftsperson. Polished matters to you. You spend time on color, typography, pacing. You know when something is good and when it needs another pass.

  • You're self-directed. You take a brief and run with it. Sphere doesn't micromanage creative—you own the output. You make decisions and defend them.

  • You understand what Sphere is. You read our blog, you know our customers, you get why tax compliance is a solvable problem. You can shoot a demo and make it compelling because you believe in what you're showing.

  • You like being in the room. Three days in office isn't a policy—it's how creative collaboration at speed works. Rough cuts feel different in a room.

This won't be a fit if:

  • You need extensive creative briefs and storyboards before you move

  • You need structure handed to you or ambiguity feels draining rather than motivating

  • You want to manage people more than own hard problems (we're a flat, experienced team — everyone builds)

  • You're used to "good enough" shipping (small errors have outsized impact here)

RESOURCES

  • Professional development budget for gear, software, and education

  • Equipment support (Sphere covers Adobe, DaVinci Resolve, and other software subscriptions; can provide cameras, lights, or audio gear as needed)
