What you'll do

  • You’ll shape long recordings into focused, high-retention videos
  • You’ll tighten structure and pacing while keeping speakers natural
  • You’ll build purposeful motion graphics, overlays, B-roll, and text
  • You’ll clean and balance audio, then refine cuts through feedback
  • You’ll export channel-ready videos and improve reusable workflow assets

What you bring

  • Demonstrated editing work on YouTube or long-form educational video
  • Working motion design skill in After Effects or an equivalent tool
  • Sharp judgment across storytelling, timing, clarity, audio, and on-screen text
  • Consistent, self-directed execution with quick feedback cycles
  • Strong visual taste and comfort matching the company’s current video style

Who this fits

You’ll thrive if you care deeply about detail, pacing, clarity, polish, and viewer understanding. You must be comfortable matching the style of the company’s seven reference videos while working across in-house and client projects. This is a remote contractor role in the Philippines, and applying requires two to four relevant examples plus your usual turnaround for a ten to twenty minute video.

From the employer

We’re hiring a Video Editor & Motion Designer to join our team and turn recorded footage (tutorials, case studies, webinars, and talking-head content) into clean, engaging, publish-ready videos. You’ll work across two types of projects:

#1 – ScaleMath Studios
Our in-house video content and YouTube channel. This includes our podcast.

#2 – Advisory & Services
Video and content assets we produce for companies we work with.

Here are examples of our current styles: https://scalemath.com/video-examples

While we will welcome improvements to this style over time, please do not apply if you are not comfortable producing videos in the same style as any of the 7 videos on this page.

This role is for someone who cares deeply, to the point of obsession, about:

  • Attention to detail

  • Pacing

  • Clarity

  • Polish

  • Viewer comprehension

  • Using motion graphics to support the story/message (not distract from it)

What You’ll Do

  • Edit long-form recorded footage into tight, high-retention videos

  • Improve pacing, structure, and clarity while preserving the speaker’s natural delivery

  • Create and integrate motion graphics (lower thirds, callouts, simple explainer sequences, UI highlights, transitions)

  • Add B-roll, overlays, and on-screen text where it improves understanding

  • Handle audio cleanup, leveling, and general sound polish

  • Produce rough cuts and iterate quickly based on feedback

  • Deliver final exports optimized for YouTube and other channels

  • Maintain a consistent style and quality bar across multiple brands and projects

  • Improve our workflow over time (templates, presets, reusable motion systems)

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience editing YouTube videos or long-form educational content

  • Strong editorial judgment: pacing, structure, clarity, and storytelling

  • Motion design ability (After Effects or equivalent) for clean, modern, functional animation

  • High attention to detail across cuts, timing, audio, and on-screen text

  • Strong taste: you know what looks modern vs outdated

  • Comfortable taking feedback and iterating quickly

  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistently

Tools

You can use your preferred tools, but most of our workflow is compatible with:

  • Descript

  • Premiere Pro

  • After Effects

  • Frame.io

Bonus points (not required)

  • Experience editing SaaS, B2B, or product-led content

  • Ability to create a reusable motion system for a channel (titles, lower thirds, callouts, transitions)

  • Thumbnail design experience

  • Familiarity with retention editing principles for YouTube

  • Experience working with founders and subject matter experts

How to Apply

Please send:

  • 2–4 examples you’re proud of (YouTube links preferred). We are looking for ones that match (or are similar to) the styles of the 7 examples provided here.

  • A short note about your role in each project (editing only vs editing + motion)

  • Your typical turnaround time for a 10–20 minute video
