From the employer

Do you enjoy building strategic partnerships, influencing senior stakeholders, and creating a connected technology ecosystem that enables marketing teams to succeed?
About our Team
The Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence, part of the Elsevier Marketing Excellence division, helps marketers use data with confidence to drive customer and business value, by providing analytics, attribution and ROI insight, data governance, and the platforms and training that let teams self-serve.
About the Role
As a senior leader within the Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence, you will own the strategic direction of Elsevier’s Marketing Technology (MarTech) ecosystem. You will help ensure that marketing platforms deliver measurable value, align with business priorities, and support long-term growth through effective governance, investment planning, and stakeholder collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own a multi-year Marketing Technology strategy, identifying where to invest, consolidate, or retire platforms based on business need and market direction
- Partner closely with Technology leadership to align the MarTech roadmap with broader technology architecture, data, and security standards
- Horizon-scan the MarTech landscape to identify emerging tools and capabilities relevant to the business
- Lead contract negotiations and renewals across the marketing platform portfolio
- Own licence and seat management, ensuring allocation matches actual usage and need across teams
- Manage vendor relationships at a strategic level, holding platforms accountable to roadmap commitments and value delivery
- Partner with Technology to manage the overall MarTech budget, including forecasting, cost optimisation, and business case development for new investment
- Act as the central connective point across Platform Product Managers, ensuring platforms are integrated and work together rather than in silos
Requirements
- Significant experience managing or overseeing marketing technology platforms/solutions at a strategic level (e.g. CDPs, engagement/CRM platforms, social/CX tools, AI content tools)
- Strong track record of vendor negotiation, contract management, and budget ownership
- Experience working cross-functionally with Technology teams, translating business needs into technical requirements without being a technical specialist yourself
- Ability to build a coherent strategy across a fragmented tool landscape and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen and comfort owning budgets and demonstrating ROI
- Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to succeed through influence and collaboration rather than direct authority over platform teams
