From the employer

Who We Are

OnYourMark Education is a high dosage virtual tutoring service providing individualized virtual literacy instruction grounded in the science of reading. We partner with schools as a supplement to the literacy instruction already in place to ensure students get the foundational reading skills they need to excel! A randomized controlled trial conducted in SY 2022-23 by Stanford University's National Student Support Accelerator (NSSA) proves that OnYourMark's live virtual tutoring for K-5 significantly improves student reading skills. OnYourMark students gained 24 extra days learning letter sounds (K) and 51 extra days in decoding (1st grade).

Why We Exist

OnYourMark exists to ensure that the students we serve have a strong foundation to become thriving readers. We also believe that spreading an understanding of the science of how children learn to read can be transformative for tutors, teachers, children, and families. Getting foundational literacy skills right early will support children to read on grade level and diminish the need for schools to remediate at their current levels.

Why Apply

When you join the OnYourMark team, you commit to supporting students to become lifelong readers with the foundational reading skills to tackle future school and life challenges and adventures. Joining the OnYourMark team is right for you if you are invested in having an impact on the lives of young people, are committed to learning, and are inspired to be a part of eradicating educational inequities. Being a part of a founding team requires thriving in ambiguity and fully embracing OnYourMark’s start-up mantra, “find a need and fill the need.”

Position Overview

The Manager of Sales Development is an individual-contributor, revenue-generating role responsible for outbound and inbound lead generation, prospect qualification, and pipeline nurturing within the K-12 education sector. This person uses HubSpot and other sales tools daily to manage prospecting and outreach activity but isn't responsible for administering, configuring, or overseeing the platform itself.

This role is focused on top-of-funnel lead generation with a marketing-support lens. The Manager of Sales Development conducts outbound prospecting and nurture campaigns, qualifies leads based on engagement and fit, supports marketing program execution, engages in social selling and digital outreach, and shares feedback on campaign and messaging effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use HubSpot and other sales tools (e.g., GovSpend) to log activity, track leads, manage campaigns, and keep pipeline data accurate and up to date.
  • Contribute data and insights toward sales dashboards and reports that help track pipeline health and key sales metrics.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, program, partnerships, and other cross-functional teams to align on go-to-market strategies, lead generation initiatives, and sales enablement resources.
  • Generate new leads through research, outbound campaigns, and networking; qualify prospects to ensure strong fit and readiness for engagement.
  • Support the RFP process by gathering initial information and assisting with cross-department coordination as needed.
  • Nurture early-stage opportunities, providing education and value to prospects, and manage the pipeline through the initial sales stages.
  • Ensure a smooth and timely handoff of qualified opportunities to the closing sales team or partnership team, maintaining clear documentation and communication.
  • Identify and share process improvement ideas to increase personal and team productivity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience in sales development, business development, or a related outbound/prospecting role; experience in Ed-Tech or nonprofit sales is a plus.
  • Experience using HubSpot for prospecting, activity logging, and pipeline tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, generate insights, and present actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in lead generation, prospect qualification, and pipeline management

Working at OnYourMark

Join a national team that is dedicated to building OnYourMark in service of our tutors and young readers across the country!

All OnYourMark teammates are fully remote and enjoy the flexibilities that come with that. We work hard and thrive in a supportive environment that is really “All In” as required in a startup while centering each teammate as a whole person with real life needs and responsibilities (like picking kids up from school, going to the doctor, working out etc.) beyond our professional commitments.

One of our key mantras is “find a need and fill the need.” In practice this means often stepping outside the lanes of our job descriptions to lend a hand to whatever task is most pressing across the organization, from helping to interview tutor candidates, to getting students set up with the technology needed to be able to connect for sessions. There really is no job too big or too small for any teammate.

Problem-solvers and self-starters thrive at OnYourMark. There are natural ebbs and flows to the work that often mean long hours at the start of sessions and then role specific flexibilities that center around a more traditional work week. We also work across the country so early mornings or later evenings are possible depending on a teammate’s timezone and where the schools we serve are located.

Expected compensation 75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
