We are looking for a Media Relations Lead with strong news instincts and a flair for storytelling. You will uncover stories worth telling, turn complex ideas into compelling narratives, and shape how NUS Enterprise and its innovations are seen in Singapore and around the world.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the intersection of storytelling, reputation and innovation.
What You’ll Do
- Find and shape stories: Uncover newsworthy ideas, breakthroughs and people across research, ventures and programmes. Develop sharp angles, headlines and narratives that stand out.
- Lead media strategy: Develop and execute media strategies for major announcements and initiatives. Pitch stories, manage media queries, and lead interviews, briefings, visits and events.
- Advise and protect reputation: Work with senior leaders and internal teams to sharpen messages, anticipate media interest and advise on issues and crisis communications.
- Build influence: Develop trusted relationships with journalists and editors across Singapore, the region and internationally. Lead PR agencies and coordinate activity across markets.
- Measure impact: Track media performance and turn insights into stronger strategies and results.
- Support strategic priorities: Contribute to key communications initiatives and management reports, ensuring narratives are clear, compelling and impact-driven.
Requirements
What You Bring
- 12–15 years of experience in media relations, public relations or corporate communications, including leadership or supervisory experience.
- A proven track record of developing and delivering media strategies at scale.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with strong instincts for what makes a story newsworthy.
- Experience managing media engagements independently, from interviews and briefings to major launches and events.
- Strong understanding of the Singapore and regional media landscape; international experience is an advantage.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex subjects and translate them into compelling narratives and sound media advice.
- Experience managing PR agencies, advising senior stakeholders and handling issues or crisis communications.
- Curiosity, energy and persistence, with a nose for interesting stories and the drive to pursue them.
You’ll Stand Out If You Have
Experience in higher education, research, deep tech, AI, innovation, venture creation or start-ups, established media relationships across business, technology or research, and international PR experience, particularly in Silicon Valley, Munich, China or Japan.
