Summary of Responsibility:

Morris Group, a leading distributor of high-end CNC machine tools and manufacturing solutions, is seeking a driven and technically proficient Capital Sales Engineer to join our team.

This role is ideal for a competitive, self-motivated professional who thrives on winning new business while also developing long-term customer relationships. You will represent premium CNC equipment and deliver value-driven solutions to manufacturers across a wide range of industries.

Salary Range: Open for Discussion

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and close new capital equipment opportunities within assigned territory

  • Develop and grow relationships with existing customers (“farmer” mentality) while aggressively targeting new business (“hunter” mentality)

  • Evaluate customer applications and recommend optimal CNC machining and Automation solutions

  • Collaborate with internal Applications Engineering team for:

    • Time studies

    • Turnkey project development

    • Process validation and machine selection

  • Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal, negotiation, and closing

  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM activity

  • Network and Stay current on industry trends, machining technologies, and competitive offerings

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (preferred)

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, machining, or capital equipment sales

  • Strong technical aptitude with CNC machining processes (milling, turning, automation a plus)

  • Proven ability to win new business and exceed sales targets

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Self-starter with a high level of accountability and urgency

  • Balances strategic relationship building with aggressive prospecting

  • Technically credible in front of engineers, plant managers and owners

  • Resilient, disciplined, and performance-driven, not afraid to hunt for business

  • Strong desire to keep learning how to bring solutions to customers

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Ideal candidate will start as a BDR(Business Development Representative). Learning the products, customers, processes, phone prospecting, in person sales calls ect.. Candidate will work with entire sales staff learning best practices and shadow current Capital Sales Engineer in territory. Oct 1st 2027 Central/Northern WI & UP MI territory will open up due to upcoming retirement of existing Capital Sales Engineer.
