About Mimecast

The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted. Work Protected.

Overview

Mimecast secures humans, data & AI. As Director of Content, you'll tell that story in a voice that sounds like a person with a point of view, not a press release. You'll lead our editorial thought leadership program, shape campaign content strategy, direct our social media program, and build an operating model where human creators and AI agents work side by side to scale content without losing what makes it ours.

Reporting to the Vice President of Brand and Communications, you'll raise Mimecast's profile with customers, partners, security researchers, the threat intelligence community, influencers, and the broader security ecosystem. Your goal is clear, data-driven content that makes Mimecast the source people, and the AI answer engines they ask, turn to on humans, data, and AI risk. Security expertise helps. Curiosity, and the discipline to get fluent fast, matter more.

What You'll Do

  • Lead an editorial strategy and calendar built on proprietary insight and Mimecast's Human Risk, AI Risk, and Data Protection pillars to drive brand awareness, equity, and demand.
  • Define integrated campaign content strategies across paid, earned, social, and owned channels, connecting the Mimecast APEX Platform story to the needs of growth, channel, field, customer, and partner marketing.
  • Direct the social media program and its creator, including video-first channels, so our voice engages target audiences and builds authentic connections.
  • Lead content creation, production, and publication across research and reports, case studies, blogs, webinars, podcasts, and videos. Bring together executive subject-matter experts, threat intelligence analysts, product marketing, and external contributors, and oversee the company's blog strategy.
  • Develop content around the real problems security and business leaders face, from risky behavior and AI adoption to data protection and compliance. Stay close to security, AI, and data trends to inform strategy and rapid response.
  • Hold the line on voice and guide written, visual, and multimedia work that is creative, consistent with Mimecast's brand, and useful to technical and business audiences.
  • Partner with web and SEO teams to optimize content for search engine optimization (SEO), answer engine optimization (AEO), engagement, and conversion. Manage distribution across social media, email, the website, and industry publications so content is discoverable and accurately cited in AI-generated answers.
  • Build AI-human workflows for ideation, drafting, optimization, and personalization, with humans owning editorial judgment, brand voice, and strategic direction. Coach the team, evaluate emerging tools and agents, and hold AI-assisted work to the same quality standard as human-created content.
  • Set and report on KPIs for audience engagement, lead generation, pipeline contribution, and visibility in AI answer engines. Use analytics to refine content strategy and AI workflows.
  • Manage the content budget, freelance contributors, vendors, and external agencies as needed.

What You'll Bring

  • A record of leading content teams and programs in content marketing, journalism, or technical writing, with the judgment and autonomy to set strategy, direct creators, and own program performance in cybersecurity, enterprise technology, or another complex B2B category.
  • Experience overseeing social media strategy and creators, alongside a firm grasp of the marketing funnel and how content supports it.
  • Hands-on experience using AI to scale content programs, including prompt engineering, workflow design, and AI-human collaboration models.
  • A working understanding of cybersecurity and enterprise technology, plus the curiosity and discipline to learn quickly from subject-matter experts.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for different audiences and cut corporate jargon so content stays authentic, conversational, and engaging.
  • The creative judgment to guide visual content and maintain a consistent brand identity across written, visual, and multimedia formats.
  • Knowledge of SEO, AEO, content distribution, and analytics, and experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, content creators, and subject-matter experts.
  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
