About the Role
McKesson's Strategic, Community & Specialized Pharmacy (SCS) business is seeking a Marketing Director, Strategic Accounts to serve as the senior marketing leader supporting our Strategic Accounts organization. This role partners closely with executive stakeholders to develop account-based marketing strategies that strengthen customer relationships, drive growth, improve retention, and enhance executive engagement across McKesson's most strategic healthcare customers.
The Director will lead a team of account marketing professionals, translate business priorities into customer-centric marketing programs, and collaborate across business units, sales, enterprise solutions, and marketing teams to deliver measurable business outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary marketing partner to Strategic Accounts leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategic account marketing and account-based marketing (ABM) strategies aligned to customer growth and retention objectives.
- Participate in account planning, business reviews, customer growth discussions, and strategic planning activities.
- Build customer engagement strategies that increase adoption of McKesson solutions and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Lead the development of value propositions, customer segmentation strategies, and persona-based customer journeys.
- Partner with sales, business units, and enterprise marketing teams to create differentiated customer messaging and go-to-market strategies.
- Monitor healthcare industry trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and market opportunities to inform strategic decision making.
- Support executive engagement initiatives, customer renewals, strategic pursuits, and key customer presentations.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Marketing professionals.
- Manage marketing priorities, resource allocation, and budget planning across strategic accounts.
- Foster collaboration across a highly matrixed organization to deliver a consistent customer experience and unified McKesson value proposition.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 12+ years of experience in healthcare marketing, strategic marketing, account-based marketing (ABM), B2B marketing, business strategy, customer marketing, or related disciplines.
- 4+ years of people leadership experience with direct responsibility for coaching and developing teams.
- Experience partnering with senior executives and business leaders to influence strategy and drive business outcomes.
- Experience leading large-scale cross-functional initiatives in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Healthcare, pharmaceutical, provider, specialty pharmacy, distribution, or healthcare services industry experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise, national, or strategic accounts.
- Experience developing and executing account-based marketing (ABM) programs.
- Experience with customer lifecycle marketing, customer retention strategies, and executive engagement programs.
- Experience with Salesforce, Marketo, Highspot, or similar CRM and marketing technology platforms.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled marketing tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong market intelligence, competitive analysis, and strategic planning capabilities.
Travel / Work Environment
- Hybrid work environment.
- Approximately 15% travel.
This role is a hybrid position. The selected candidate is expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities.
