KiwiRail is embarking on an exciting journey to modernise and strengthen its digital presence, and we're looking for a creative, strategic and hands-on Social Media & Content Specialist to help lead the way. This role will be responsible for managing KiwiRail's social media channels, developing engaging content, and delivering compelling digital storytelling that connects our people, customers, communities and stakeholders. Working closely with teams across the country, you'll bring KiwiRail's stories to life through written, visual and video content while helping shape our online presence and digital reputation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing, creating and publishing engaging content across KiwiRail's social media channels.
- Managing day-to-day social media activity and maintaining an effective content calendar.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across KiwiRail to identify and tell compelling stories.
- Building and delivering digital campaigns aligned to organisational priorities and communications strategies.
- Monitoring channel performance and using insights and analytics to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintaining a consistent KiwiRail brand voice across digital platforms.
- Producing visual and video content that engages audiences and strengthens KiwiRail's digital presence.
- Assessing content through a reputational risk lens and managing sensitive communications appropriately.

We're looking for a passionate communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on content creation.
- Experience managing social media and digital communication channels within a complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of major social platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills with a strong understanding of brand voice.
- Experience creating or coordinating visual and video content.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and project management capability, including managing multiple priorities and campaigns.
- Experience using content management, publishing and analytics tools.
- Ability to translate complex information into engaging and accessible content.
- Knowledge of website content management, SEO and user experience principles would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
