About the Job:

The Marketing Director; Commercialization and Launch Strategy is a strategic leader within the Foundation Medicine Clinical Marketing organization, responsible for driving commercialization and launch excellence across the company’s product and service portfolio. This role leads the development of integrated commercial strategies that translate innovation into successful market introductions, adoption, and sustained business impact. Working cross-functionally with partners across Product, Marketing, Sales, Medical, Legal, and other key functions, the Director leads commercial strategy across the launch lifecycle, from early planning and market readiness through post-launch optimization. The role also champions launch excellence, establishing scalable processes, best practices, and continuous improvement to strengthen commercial execution across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated commercialization and launch strategies across the clinical portfolio, grounded in business objectives, market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive insights
  • Own the end-to-end commercial launch process, from early strategy and readiness, through performance measurement, and post-launch optimization
  • Serve as a cross-functional leader for launches, aligning Product, Marketing, Sales, Medical, Market Access, Legal, and other key stakeholders around strategy, priorities, milestones, and measures of success
  • Translate market research, customer insights, field intelligence, competitive dynamics, and performance data into actionable strategies and recommendations that drive adoption and business growth
  • Continuously evolve launch excellence capabilities, frameworks, processes, and best practices to improve the consistency, efficiency and impact of product launches across the portfolio
  • Define launch objectives, KPIs and success measures, monitor commercial performance, and identify opportunities to optimize strategy and execution
  • Partner with senior leadership to prioritize initiatives, resolve barriers, and ensure commercial resources are aligned to the highest-impact portfolio opportunities
  • Represent marketing in strategic portfolio and business discussions, bringing customer perspective to key investment and prioritization decisions
  • Partner with international stakeholders to build launch strategies that drive global growth and expansion
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Foundation Medicine legal and compliance requirements
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in clinical diagnostics marketing, with demonstrated experience leading complex commercialization and product launches

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Oncology and/or molecular diagnostics experience
  • Global commercialization or launch experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, align senior and cross-functional stakeholders, and drive decisions in a matrixed organization
  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities with the ability to synthesize market, customer, competitive, and performance insights into actionable recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives while maintaining focus on strategic objectives and delivering against commitments
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to simplify complex clinical, scientific, and commercial concepts for diverse audiences
  • Strong business acumen, judgment, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of navigating ambiguity and complex business challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships across Marketing, Product, Sales, Medical, Market Access, and other functions
  • High degree of accountability, adaptability, and integrity
  • Proven ability to develop, communicate, and execute commercial strategies that translate business objectives and customer insights into measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Remote is $174,160 - $217,700 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicine’s compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine's benefits.
