Basic Functions: Responsible for the design, user experience, and visual consistency of the University’s web ecosystem, including AUB, AUBMC, AUB Online, AUB Mediterraneo, and affiliated departmental websites. Leads the creation and evolution of the University’s digital design system, ensuring that all web properties provide an accessible, user-centered, mobile-responsive, and brand-consistent experience.
Works closely with web developers, content strategists, and stakeholders to design templates, page layouts, components, navigation systems, and user journeys within the Drupal platform. Contributes to digital strategy initiatives and continuously improves the user experience through research, analytics, and usability best practices.
1. Duties Performed:
- Designs user-centered websites, page templates, components, and digital experiences for the University's web ecosystem.
- Implements and maintains the University's web design system, ensuring consistency across all websites and digital platforms.
- Creates wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and visual designs for new websites, features, and digital services.
- Collaborates with Drupal developers to ensure successful implementation of designs and adherence to UX best practices.
- Conducts usability reviews and recommend improvements to navigation, information architecture, accessibility, and user journeys.
- Ensures compliance with university branding guidelines and digital accessibility standards.
- Designs and adapts digital campaigns, landing pages, newsletters, and web-based communications.
- Supports mobile-first and responsive design initiatives across all web properties.
- Analyzes user behavior and web analytics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provides design consultation and guidance to university departments and stakeholders.
- Stays current with emerging trends in UX, UI, accessibility, digital design, and higher education web practices.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
2. Work Contacts:
Works closely with the Director of Creative Services, graphic designers, web developers, content editors, communications officers, and University stakeholders to deliver effective digital experiences. Collaborates with external vendors and consultants as needed.
3. Independence of Operation:
Reports directly to the Digital Media Director and operates with considerable independence in planning and executing design initiatives.

7. Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, or related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in web design, UX/UI design, or digital product design.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in website design, responsive design, information architecture, and user experience.
- Experience designing for CMS-driven websites; Drupal experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar design and prototyping tools.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and usability best practices.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, responsive design principles, and front-end development workflows.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent command of English.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to evolving digital technologies and design practices.
