Who this fits

This suits a hands-on content designer who wants to support Parent Talk, a digital parenting service, and improve content for parents, carers and young people. The role is homebased, but you must live in the UK. It is a six-month, fixed-term position, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: £35,000 per annum pro rata.

Location:  Homebased (must be based in the UK).

Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 6 months – 35 hours per week.

A bit about the role  

We are looking for a Content Designer to join our digital team for 6 months, primarily working on Parent Talk, Action for Children’s digital parenting support service.

This is a hands-on content design role. You’ll use evidence and user insight to design, review and improve accessible content and journeys, working closely with parenting coaches, subject matter experts and digital colleagues.

You’ll report to the Senior Content Designer, who leads Parent Talk’s content strategy, governance, standards and prioritisation.

How you'll help to create brighter futures  

  • Design and improve accessible, inclusive content and user journeys for parents, carers and young people.

  • Use research, analytics, search insight, user behaviour and feedback to understand user needs and inform content decisions.

  • Work with subject matter experts to turn complex and sometimes sensitive information into clear, useful content.

  • Take assigned content through research, design, review, publication and ongoing improvement.

  • Contribute content design expertise to multidisciplinary delivery work where needed, working with product, development and technical colleagues.

  • Advocate for evidence-led, user-centred and accessible content across the organisation.

Let's talk about you

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Hands-on content design experience, including identifying and defining user needs from evidence and translating them into effective digital content or journeys.

  • Experience using research, analytics, search insight, user behaviour, feedback or other evidence to make and evaluate content decisions.

  • Experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design content around user needs, including complex information where accuracy matters.

  • Practical experience of accessibility and inclusive content design.

Experience of content management systems, user testing, SEO and writing for the web would also be useful.
