Two Part Time posts: 9 hours per week, fixed term for a 6 month duration

The prospective post holder must be:

• Current student at the University of Edinburgh; and residing in the UK.

The Opportunity:

The Regional Ethnology of Scotland Archive Project is currently offering a part-time opportunity for two students to join the Heritage Collections Team as RESP Social Media and Engagement Interns. The Heritage Collections team are responsible for the cultural heritage collections of the University of Edinburgh. Our guiding principles are that we preserve, provide access to, and interpret the cultural heritage of the University (online, in galleries and in reading rooms); and that we are a research laboratory for the humanities, collaborating on research, teaching and civic engagement. The RESP Archive Project manages an active collection of over 1,000 oral history recordings gathered from across Scotland.

This opportunity allows you to gain experience working on a live curatorial project and develop skills for a future career in the cultural/heritage sector.

This post entails:

• Planning and development of a social media calendar of activity to help to promote ongoing RESP activities and existing RESP creative content.

• The successful candidate will join the RESP Archive Project team within Heritage Collections to increase awareness of the RESP’s oral history collections.

• This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience delivering a social media programme that will promote and increase awareness of the RESP Archive.

Your skills and attributes for success:

• A student from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK, able to work collaboratively and independently.

• Experience of or an interest in spoken word/oral history archives and related resources.

• Experience of using social media platforms (Instagram) and web based graphic design platforms such as Canva.

• Experience of working in an archive, library, or research environment.
