Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $158,000.00 - $187,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to serve as the senior Business to Business (B2B) marketing leader for Commerce Bank's Commercial Segment, responsible for defining and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive growth, deepen client relationships, strengthen brand differentiation, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the Commercial Marketing strategy and operating model across Commercial Banking, Small Business, Payments, Healthcare, Expansion Markets, and priority industry verticals

  • Translate Commercial Segment objectives into integrated marketing roadmaps, annual priorities, investment plans, and performance measures

  • Partner with Commercial leadership to shape go-to-market strategies that support acquisition, expansion, retention, relationship deepening, and revenue growth

  • Oversee full-funnel B2B marketing strategies, including brand, demand generation, account-based marketing, lifecycle marketing, thought leadership, content, paid media, public relations and earned media, events, sponsorships, digital, web, and sales enablement

  • Strengthen alignment between Marketing, Sales, Product, Communications, and external partners to ensure clear priorities, strong execution, and measurable impact

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting discipline to measure campaign performance, brand impact, marketing Return on Investment (ROI), lead generation, sales enablement effectiveness, and pipeline or relationship influence

  • Champion continuous improvement, marketing innovation, process discipline, prioritization, and scalable ways of working that reduce low-value activity and increase strategic impact

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders by bringing market insight, customer perspective, competitive awareness, and performance analytics into Commercial Segment planning

  • Develop short and long-term initiatives that align with the company strategy and provide guidance, coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs

  • Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and be responsible for upholding the company culture and driving it within the organization.

  • Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to appropriate levels of staff effectively

  • Oversee budget management, planning and expenditure, strategic marketing investment planning, vendor oversight, and business-case development

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Deep knowledge of full-funnel marketing, demand generation, account-based marketing, lifecycle marketing, brand strategy, content strategy, and sales enablement

  • Strong ability to connect marketing strategy to Commercial Segment objectives, revenue growth, relationship deepening, and measurable business outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior leaders in a matrixed environment

  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using marketing performance data, customer insights, segmentation, CRM, automation, and reporting to improve decisions

  • Ability to manage marketing budgets, agency/vendor partnerships, investment prioritization, and ROI expectations

  • Ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, change, and competing priorities while maintaining focus on strategic outcomes

  • Strong executive communication skills, including business-case development, storytelling, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder alignment

  • Understanding of bank marketing regulations or ability to operate effectively in a regulated environment

  • Ability to create a high performing leadership team and build a high-performing team to successfully lead initiatives, projects and activities that support departmental and organizational goals

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers

  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, make decisions and build trust across the company and effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive complex business issues

  • Expert general management knowledge and skills, such as departmental goal setting and planning, budgeting and personnel administration

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Intermediate to Advance level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Master’s degree in an applicable field preferred

  • 10+ years progressive and executive-level B2B marketing leadership experience required, preferably in financial services, payments, healthcare, professional services, technology, or another complex and regulated B2B environment

  • 10+ years leadership/supervisory experience, including demonstrated success leading leaders, building high performing teams, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders required

This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
