About the Team:
CDP’s Sales function is responsible for generating sales of CDP products to new customers, as well as renewing existing customers and identifying greenfield opportunities within the existing book of business. The Sales function is market and customer oriented and establishes go-to market strategies that serve key personas across financial corporates, non-financial corporates, and distributors and channels. The Sales function works closely with M&C and Customer Success to deliver a smooth customer experience.
About this role:
This is a hybrid relationship management and business development role, responsible for managing some of CDP’s most strategic corporate and financial institution relationships in North America while also driving new business across the region. The role will carry both an NRR target and a new-sales quota, with accountability for retaining and growing existing customers, developing qualified pipeline, and converting new opportunities into revenue.
What you will do:
• Strategic Relationship Management: Own and develop relationships with some of CDP’s most high-profile and strategic corporate and financial institution customers. Build a deep understanding of their needs, priorities and use cases to drive retention, customer value and growth, while identifying cross-sell and greenfield opportunities across the existing book.
• New Business Development: Build and convert a qualified pipeline of new business to achieve an annual sales quota. Proactively identify and engage priority prospects, develop opportunities through consultative discovery and stakeholder mapping, and own the sales process from qualification through proposal, negotiation and close. Work across CDP’s existing network and relationships, as well as targeted outbound, referrals, events and other lead-generation channels, to create new revenue opportunities.
• Commercial Strategy: Be a key thought partner to the Market Director on North America retention and growth strategy. Help develop plans to achieve NRR and new-sales targets, identify priority accounts and market opportunities, and monitor performance against objectives.
• Proposal Development: Develop and present compelling proposals and commercial solutions for existing customers and new prospects, aligning customer needs and use cases with CDP’s value proposition.
• Renewal and Commercial Negotiation: Lead complex renewal, pricing, licence and contract negotiations, balancing customer outcomes, retention and revenue growth.
• Pipeline and Forecasting Discipline: Maintain a rigorous approach to opportunity management, pipeline development and forecasting. Keep Dynamics 365 (D365) accurate and current, with clear qualification, next steps, expected close dates and commercial risks.
• Team Leadership and Commercial Capability: Mentor and support more junior team members on account strategy, commercial judgment and execution. Help strengthen commercial capability, ways of working and knowledge-sharing across the North America team.
• Market Intelligence: Maintain a strong understanding of sustainability and sustainable-finance trends, customer needs and the competitive landscape. Translate market and customer insight into commercial strategy, product feedback and new opportunities.
• External Representation and Market Development: Represent CDP at relevant industry events, conferences and networking opportunities. Use CDP’s external presence to deepen strategic relationships, develop new prospects and generate commercial opportunities.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across Sales, Customer Success, Product, Marketing & Communications and other teams to build a complete view of strategic customers and prospects and deliver an effective customer and sales experience.
• Performance Reporting: Track and report against NRR, new-sales performance, pipeline, forecast and other key commercial metrics, providing clear and timely visibility to senior leadership.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen account management and business development processes, improve commercial effectiveness and contribute to a high-performing North America sales organization.
Actively contribute to an effective and engaged team, clear on its purpose and contribution, by:
• Ensuring you know what is expected of you, through regular 1:1’s, having clear objectives in place, and participating in open and honest performance and development conversations
• Ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace, where team members communicate openly, share knowledge so it can be used, and respect difference.
• Living the CDP Values and demonstrating the behaviours appropriate to your position.
We're looking for:
Commercial Experience: Demonstrable experience in enterprise sales, renewals and strategic account management, preferably within the sustainability sector.
Business Development: Experience building and converting new-business pipeline, from prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation and close.
Track Record: Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
Strategic Relationship Management: Strong ability to build senior customer relationships, understand customer needs and buying processes, identify renewal risk, and uncover opportunities for growth.
Communication & Influence: Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and articulate a compelling value proposition.
