The Acquisition Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing customer acquisition strategies across Direct Mail, Email, and SMS channels to drive measurable new customer growth. This role leads channel strategy, campaign planning, targeting, testing, budget management, and performance optimization, using data and customer insights to continuously improve acquisition effectiveness and return on investment.

The Acquisition Marketing Manager partners closely with Analytics, Creative, Product, Marketing Strategy, and other cross-functional teams to ensure acquisition campaigns are effectively targeted, executed, measured, and optimized against business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the customer acquisition strategy across Direct Mail, Email, and SMS channels, including audience segmentation, channel planning, creative and messaging direction, offer prioritization, campaign cadence, and performance optimization.

  • Develop and manage integrated acquisition campaign roadmaps and testing strategies, including A/B and multivariate testing, to continuously improve key performance indicators such as response rate, conversion rate, cost per acquisition (CPA), and return on ad spend (ROAS).

  • Lead the planning and execution of acquisition campaigns from strategy through launch and optimization, ensuring campaigns are delivered accurately, on time, and in alignment with customer growth objectives.

  • Manage acquisition channel budgets, forecasting, and spend pacing, making data-driven recommendations and allocation decisions to maximize customer growth and return on investment.

  • Analyze campaign, customer, and channel performance to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, translating insights into actionable recommendations and future acquisition strategies.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Analytics, Creative, Product, Marketing Strategy, and other teams to align targeting, messaging, offers, campaign execution, measurement, and customer experience.

  • Establish and maintain campaign performance reporting and measurement frameworks to evaluate channel effectiveness and provide visibility into acquisition results.

  • Present campaign performance, key insights, testing results, and strategic recommendations to marketing leadership and other stakeholders on a regular cadence.

  • Manage relationships with external agencies, print and fulfillment vendors, and other partners as applicable, ensuring quality, cost effectiveness, and timely campaign delivery.

  • Stay current on acquisition marketing trends, emerging technologies, channel capabilities, and industry best practices, identifying opportunities to improve campaign effectiveness and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure acquisition campaigns comply with applicable regulations, including CAN-SPAM and TCPA requirements, as well as internal legal, privacy, and brand standards.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in acquisition, performance, direct response, lifecycle, or related marketing disciplines.

  • Experience with direct ownership of at least two acquisition channels, including Direct Mail, Email, or SMS.

  • Demonstrated experience managing campaign budgets, forecasting, performance measurement, and optimization.

  • Experience developing and analyzing A/B and multivariate tests and translating results into actionable recommendations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of performance and acquisition marketing, customer segmentation, targeting, campaign optimization, and direct response marketing principles.

  • Proficiency with email service platforms and marketing automation technologies such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, or similar platforms.

  • Working knowledge of Direct Mail production processes, including list management, print vendor coordination, fulfillment, and postal logistics.

  • Understanding of Email and SMS marketing requirements, including CAN-SPAM, TCPA, consent management, and opt-in/opt-out practices.

  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, customer data platforms (CDPs), and data-driven audience segmentation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret campaign and customer data, identify performance drivers, and measure marketing effectiveness and ROI.

  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of acquisition metrics, including CPA, ROAS, response rates, and conversion rates.

  • Strong campaign planning, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex campaign data into clear business insights and recommendations.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to campaign quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in telecommunications, financial services, retail, insurance, or another direct response-focused industry.

  • Experience managing external agencies, print vendors, fulfillment partners, or other marketing service providers.

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar enterprise marketing technology platforms.

  • Exposure to digital acquisition channels, including paid search, display, paid social, or affiliate marketing.

  • Understanding of cross-channel measurement, attribution, and customer journey optimization.

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed indoors from a home or company office environment, with regular use of a computer, telephone, and other standard office productivity equipment.

  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor meetings, industry conferences, or internal team events, estimated at up to 10% of the time.
