From the employer
About Avenue Z, Inc.
Avenue Z is a digital marketing and PR agency engineered to move fast. Brands partner with us to drive revenue and reputation through high-impact public relations, performance media, AI search optimization (AEO), and our creator network. Trusted by leaders in emerging tech, finance and consumer brands, we drive influence across all channels - from AI Search to The Wall Street Journal, Shopify to TikTok, Meta to Google.
The role
You are a growth marketer who builds. You have bought media on Meta, Google, or TikTok with your own hands, you know what a good ROAS looks like before the dashboard loads, and when something is manual, repetitive, or slow, your instinct is to open an editor and wire it to the platform API rather than schedule a working session.
The Marketing AI Engineer builds and ships the AI agents, automations, and reporting systems that run paid media, creator and affiliate campaigns, CRO, and client reporting at Avenue Z. The work is concrete: agents that launch and QA ads across Meta, TikTok, and Snap; systems that reallocate budget toward top-performing creators; reporting that ties creator content, ad spend, and attributed revenue into one picture; alerts that catch an expiring TikTok Shop affiliate code or a Meta partnership permission before spend stalls.
You are also the technical lead for our AI builders. You set the standard for how agents are designed, reviewed, and shipped across service lines, you review their work, and you are the person leadership turns to when a build needs a decision. You will embed with the paid media, creator, and ecommerce teams to find where throughput or margin is lost, build the system that fixes it, drive adoption, and move to the next one.
This is a builder and a leader role. You ship working systems yourself, and you raise the bar for everyone else who ships them.
What you'll do
Build against the marketing platforms our revenue runs on
- Integrate with the Meta Marketing API, TikTok Business and TikTok Shop APIs, Google Ads API, Snap, Shopify, and affiliate and creator platform APIs: OAuth and token refresh, rate limits, webhooks, and partnership-access flows.
- Build agents and automations for ad launching and QA, budget pacing and reallocation, creative tagging and performance intelligence, anomaly detection, and cross-platform commission tracking.
- Build the reporting layer that shows a brand what actually drove revenue, cross-referenced against Shopify as the source of truth.
Embed with the teams and ship against real problems
- Sit with paid media, creator and affiliate, CRO, and ecommerce teams. Audit how they work today, map the workflow from input to output, and find the steps that should run automatically.
- Turn a messy manual process into a working system inside weeks, not quarters. Define where a human approves and where the system acts on its own, especially where money or brand safety is on the line.
- Drive adoption. A system that ships and sits unused does not count. Train the team, gather feedback, and iterate.
Build Innovative AI Driven Marketing SolutionsAI
- Provide technical leadership on product roadmap.
Be an expert in building and shipping production ready solutions. - Set the standard for how Avenue Z designs, reviews, documents, and ships agents and automations across service lines, and enforce it through code review and design review.
- Review and mentor the engineers and builders already working on AI automation across PR, SEO and AEO, organic social, and ecommerce. Unblock them, raise their quality bar, and own the outcome of their work.
- Run the intake and prioritization of automation requests so the team builds what moves revenue, time saved, or client retention, in that order.
- Report progress, blockers, and measured impact to the CTO and present to leadership.
Invent new capability
- Build things that create new advantages for the business, not just faster versions of old tasks: autonomous media buying, creative-to-landing-page pipelines, creator performance ranking, and whatever you see next that we have not.
What you won't do
- Be a passive project coordinator or a pure strategist with no build capability.
- Spend months planning without shipping.
- Wait for perfect requirements before building.
- Build for novelty instead of business value.
- Replace human judgment where brand, strategy, or client context still matters.
- Treat marketing as someone else's domain. You have to understand the ad account as well as the people running it.
Who you are
Required
- A background in growth marketing. You have personally run paid media on at least one of Instagram and Facebook, Google, or TikTok, and you understand campaign structure, pixels and events, attribution windows, creative testing, and what the numbers mean.
- Hands-on experience working with the Meta Marketing API and the TikTok Business or TikTok Shop APIs, plus other marketing platform APIs (Google Ads, Shopify, Klaviyo, affiliate and creator platforms). You have built something real against them, not read the docs.
- Deep, current, hands-on knowledge of the digital marketing industry: how agencies and brands actually operate, where the manual work sits, and what clients pay for.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar) and a working command of good coding practice: version control, code review, environment and secrets management, testing, and documentation. A computer science degree is not required. Shipped work is.
- Experience leading others who build. You have been a principal engineer, a founder, a lead engineer, a technical team lead, or a leader of product managers, and you have set and enforced a quality bar for a team's work.
- Experience building AI agents and automations in production: prompts, tool use, approval gates, error handling, and monitoring, using whatever stack fits (Python or TypeScript, agent frameworks, workflow platforms such as n8n or Make where they are the right tool).
- A portfolio of projects or code repositories you can walk us through (see below).
- Based in, or relocating at your own expense to, Miami or Orlando. Onsite.
Preferred
- Experience in an ecommerce or performance marketing agency, or on a DTC brand's growth team.
- TikTok Shop, creator and affiliate marketing, or influencer campaign experience.
- Data work: SQL, BigQuery or a similar warehouse, Looker Studio or similar BI tools.
- Shopify app or Shopify API experience.
- You have built and sold, launched, or run something of your own.
Critical traits
- Moves fast and learns fast.
- Thinks in systems and sees ambiguity as a build opportunity.
- Commercially aware: knows the difference between an impressive demo and a system that makes or saves money.
- High agency. Does not wait to be assigned the problem.
- Good judgment on what should be automated and what should stay human.
- Can switch between a conversation with a media buyer and a code review without changing register.
Benefits
- Salary: $100k-$120k
- Medical, vision, and dental plans
- 401(k) plan with 4% employer match
- Unlimited PTO
- Professional development stipend
