Business Intelligence Solutions Specialist

Overview of Position

The Business Intelligence Solutions Specialist supports Legal and Compliance operations by designing, developing, and implementing data-driven solutions that improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and business performance. This role partners closely with Legal, Compliance, IT, and third-party vendors to translate business requirements into reporting, analytics, automation, and technology solutions.

The position serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, developing business intelligence solutions, supporting data integrations, driving automation initiatives, and leading projects that enhance operational effectiveness. The Business Intelligence Solutions Specialist leverages Power BI, SQL, Power Query, Power Automate, APIs, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence solutions, to deliver measurable business value and continuous improvement.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Business Intelligence & Analytics

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable business insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Design and maintain data models that support accurate, scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
• Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
• Develop reporting solutions and KPIs that measure operational performance and support business objectives.
• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of reporting and analytics outputs.
• Implement and maintain appropriate data access controls, including Power BI row-level security, workspace permissions, and other measures to protect sensitive or confidential information.
• Support the development lifecycle of business intelligence solutions and projects, including requirements, development, testing, deployment, workspace management, scheduled refreshes, production releases, and ongoing enhancements.

Data Integration & Automation

• Develop and support ETL processes to integrate, cleanse, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analytics.
• Utilize Power Query and related tools to combine and optimize data from multiple sources.
• Build, support, and enhance automated workflows using Power Automate and other automation technologies.
• Support and maintain integrations between enterprise systems using APIs and other connectivity methods.
• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and improve operational efficiency through automation and technology solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation for data sources, data models, integrations, APIs, automation workflows, dependencies, and solution configurations.

Business Partnership & Solution Delivery

• Partner with stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, IT, and external vendors to gather and document business requirements.
• Translate business needs into reporting, analytics, automation, and technology solutions.
• Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Coordinate system testing activities, including functional testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Develop training materials and support user adoption of new processes, systems, and reporting solutions.

Project & Process Improvement

• Lead and support business intelligence, automation, and process improvement initiatives from planning through implementation.
• Develop project plans, coordinate activities, monitor timelines, and manage risks to ensure successful delivery.
• Analyze current-state business processes and identify opportunities for optimization and operational improvement.
• Apply continuous improvement methodologies and best practices to enhance business performance.
• Communicate project status, risks, issues, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
• Document current-state and future-state business processes, workflows, data flows, and system interactions using Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or similar process-mapping tools.

• Support change management and release activities by documenting solution changes, coordinating deployments, communicating impacts, and maintaining appropriate documentation

Operational Support

• Support the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Legal and Compliance technology solutions.
• Troubleshoot reporting, integration, automation, and workflow issues while providing ongoing production support.
• Support system enhancements, upgrades, and maintenance activities to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, that can improve business operations.
• Monitor data refreshes, integrations, automated workflows, and reporting solutions to identify failures, performance issues, and opportunities to improve reliability.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Business Analysis, Business Systems, Project Management, Process Improvement, or a related field.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1 or higher) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Strong SQL skills with experience extracting, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources.
• Experience designing and maintaining data models that support reporting and analytics.
• Experience developing or supporting ETL processes and data integration solutions.
• Experience using Power Query for data transformation and preparation.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems using APIs, web services, or other connectivity methods.
• Experience building or supporting workflow automation solutions using Power Automate or similar technologies.
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
• Experience managing projects through planning, execution, monitoring, and implementation phases.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

• Advanced Power BI experience, including DAX, Power Query (M), semantic modeling, and report performance optimization.
• Experience with Python or other analytics tools to support reporting, automation, and data analysis initiatives.
• Experience working in Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience designing and supporting end-to-end business intelligence and analytics solutions.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, KPI development, and reporting best practices.
• Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience with automation technologies, workflow management platforms, and artificial intelligence solutions.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications using REST APIs, web services, and related technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience serving as a liaison between business and technical teams to deliver technology-enabled business solutions.
• Professional certifications such as Microsoft Power BI, PMP, CBAP, Lean Six Sigma, or related certifications.
