About The Role & Team

Amplitude is looking for a Content Lead to shape how we tell our story as we build the leading AI analytics platform. This is a player-coach opportunity where you’ll lead our content strategy and team while staying hands-on in the work, from developing high-impact narratives and editorial direction to writing, editing, and bringing ideas to life across channels.

We think about distribution first. The job isn't to produce content and then figure out where it goes, it's to start from who we need to reach and what we need them to believe, and work backwards into format, channel, and collaborator. That increasingly means new media: newsletters, podcasts, creators, and communities where our audience actually spends time, alongside the channels we own. A meaningful part of the role is building and using relationships outside Amplitude to co-create and distribute work we couldn't reach on our own.

You’ll partner closely with Product Marketing, Brand, Demand Generation, Sales, Product, and company leaders to turn complex ideas about analytics, AI, and the future of digital products into content that people actually want to read, watch, and share. We’re looking for someone who can raise the creative bar, move quickly, and build a modern content engine that combines great storytelling with AI-native ways of working.

As a Content Lead, you will:

  • Set the content strategy and editorial direction across key channels and audiences, defining the stories, themes, formats, and points of view that strengthen Amplitude’s brand and support our business.

  • Lead and develop the content team as a player-coach, providing clear direction, feedback, and mentorship while staying hands-on with high-priority content and creative projects.

  • Own distribution alongside content, working backwards from the audience and the message to decide format, channel, and partner, rather than producing content and finding a home for it afterward.

  • Build our presence in new media. Develop the relationships and the playbook for newsletters, podcasts, creator collaborations, and communities, and turn them into a repeatable distribution channel rather than one-off placements.

  • Create and lead external content partnerships. Identify and build relationships with publishers, operators, creators, and other companies to co-create and co-distribute work, including formats we haven't tried yet.

  • Create and elevate content yourself, including thought leadership, executive content, customer stories, campaign content, social, and other formats that bring Amplitude’s perspective to life.

  • Partner across the business with Product Marketing, Brand, Demand Generation, Sales, Product, and executives to turn customer insights, product innovation, and market trends into compelling stories that drive awareness and engagement.

  • Build a modern, scalable content engine, using AI and emerging tools to increase speed and creativity while maintaining a high bar for originality, accuracy, brand voice, and editorial quality.

  • Place bets and make cuts. Decide what we go all-in on with a small team, name what we're stopping, and be clear about which experiments we're running when we don't yet know the answer.

You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:

  • You’re a strong editor and storyteller with a sharp point of view on what makes B2B content memorable, useful, and differentiated.

  • You’ve led or mentored content talent and know how to raise the quality of a team without becoming a bottleneck for the work.

  • You have strong instincts for new media. You can tell which newsletter, podcast, or creator will actually reach the people we care about, and you know how to approach them.

  • You’re comfortable moving between strategy and execution. You can build the content plan in the morning and rewrite a headline or draft a CEO post in the afternoon.

  • You understand how to make complex technology, AI, analytics, or product concepts accessible and compelling for different audiences.

  • You push back well. When someone asks for a blog post, your first question is who's going to read it and how they'll find it.

  • You’re curious about AI and actively experiment with AI-native content workflows and tools, while knowing that good content still requires judgment, taste, original thinking, and a human point of view.

At a minimum, you need to have:

  • 8+ years of experience in content, editorial, content marketing, brand storytelling, or a related field, ideally within B2B technology or SaaS.

  • Experience leading, managing, or mentoring content professionals, with a track record of developing talent and raising the quality of the work.

  • Demonstrated experience building distribution through channels you don't own, media partnerships, creator or newsletter collaborations, communities, or similar.

  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling across multiple content formats and audiences.

  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to develop content strategies and bring complex ideas to market.

  • A track record of owning content from strategy through execution and measurement, with the ability to connect great storytelling to business outcomes.
