AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15th and 16th. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.

The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated part-time Communications Intern to support our growing Energy Practice during the academic year on a flexible, as-needed basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a student interested in energy, infrastructure, marketing, communications, and business development to gain hands-on experience supporting AECOM as we engage with some of North America's largest electric utility, power generation, transmission, and oil & gas clients.

Working directly with industry leaders, you will help create compelling marketing content, support thought leadership initiatives, develop client-facing qualifications materials, and contribute innovative ideas that help strengthen AECOM's presence across the energy sector.

We're looking for someone who brings energy, creativity, and initiative to every assignment and is eager to contribute wherever support is needed.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain client-facing qualifications packages, project descriptions, resumes, presentations, and other marketing collateral.
  • Assist in writing, editing, and publishing articles, blogs, case studies, and thought leadership content focused on energy generation, transmission, distribution, and emerging energy technologies.
  • Support AECOM's online presence through content creation and social media engagement, particularly LinkedIn.
  • Research industry trends, utility priorities, market developments, and emerging technologies to support business development activities.
  • Help prepare materials for client meetings, conferences, industry events, and speaking engagements.
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to translate complex engineering concepts into engaging and marketable content.
  • Develop creative ideas to increase AECOM's visibility and engagement with utility, power generation, and oil & gas clients through both digital and in-person channels.
  • Provide marketing, communications, and business development support across the Energy Practice as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, Public Relations, Engineering, Energy Studies, or a related field and must have completed at least 3 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and plan to continue with the Master’s Degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written, editing, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in energy, utilities, infrastructure, sustainability, or industrial markets.
  • Experience with LinkedIn, digital marketing, graphic design, video editing, or content creation is a plus.
  • Comfortable collaborating with technical professionals and learning new subject matter quickly.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This role is expected to work 5-15 hours per week during the academic year, with flexibility based on workload, project needs, and the student's schedule.
